2003 3.2 CL/S Power Steering Belt
Has anyone changed the power steering pump drive belt on this car. Looks like the only way is to unbolt the side(passenger side) engine mount. Does engine need to be supported in order to unbolt it and remove the belt, or will the other mounts hold it?

The other mounts will hold the engine in place. It won't drop down more than 1/4" if that when you remove the mount.

Why are you not having the dealer do this under warranty? Do you have a warranty? I would expect so on a CL-S so new...

At 33k, ABSOLUTELY not wear and tear...that belt should not need replacing for a LONNNNNG time. Take it to the dealer...have them replace it under warranty, save yourself some headache and money.

I would also agree (being an acura tech myself) that you should take it to the dealer. Rarely have I ever seen a p/s belt or p/s system be making any trouble. Is there a squealing noise from the belt area? I would first check the auto tensioner for red death or any abnormal noise. Those go out much sooner than a belt. Good luck

i've been with acura for quite a while and only seen the RSX and Integra belts start fraying and making noise.. with alot of miles on them. Legend's here and there with lots of miles.
oh yeah, a tsx belt too..haha..i forgot to put the coolant resevoir back in it's place.. layed it down on top of the belt. plastic melted right off of the mother! .. sucks i had to order a warranty ps belt.. OOPS

Did you take your power steering OFF for some reason? Did you modify the engine, thus causing this situation? Thats about the only thing i can see as being feasible here...

Re: (hypnosisracing)
I genrally change belts and hoses on my cars betwen 24 and 36k as preventive maintgenance. Judging by responses I'm getting from knowledgeable people, I should modify these intervals. ?

yes modify them..
change it when it starts to look weak or makes noise.
the belts aren't within acura standards for preventative maintenence.
Maybe ford or GM.. not honda.
just leave the belt on there, bro.
BTW, to get the belt off, there is a tensioner and 12mm bolt on the pump itself.
take a wrench to the tensioner, i believe it's 12 or 14mm.. i forget.. undo the bolt on the pump and the belt loosens.
i was just wondering why you were changing it.
I would just leave it on there.
good luck, though.
