Short ram or Cold air
I was told that short ram gives you more power up top and that cold air gives you more power down low. Is this true?

You know, a company called Search Inc. Makes a good intake. It is free, and you should try it sometime.

you should try taking off your stock intake and put a sock over your throttle body.. you'll get gains up top and down low.

Make sure its a long tube sock though. The short ancle high ones sometimes get heat soak, and sometimes they just get sucked in.

Re: Short ram or Cold air (ballerchild)
alright, I guess I'll play the nice guy. Yes, Search next time. but here you go
A HOT RAM INTAKE does nothing but suck in HOT AIR. Making no power at all. You will LOSE POWER if you install your so called Short Ram, but I like to call it the Hot ram cuz it sounds cooler that what it in fact does!
Cold air intake is your best bet buddy. Why saturate your engine with hot air to be compressed into even more hot air and be realeased into your exhaust at an insaine heat level? Search Ebay or here on the HT stores. AEM, Injen, Comptech makes a great air box, ARC. yeup, all very good. Price could be from $200 on up. Cold air increases your top end and you'll actually get nice "Cold" air. It works. Try it!
alright, I'm done being a wise ***

hahaha, thats awesome!
I'd personally go for the long wool ones. The keep your engine nice and warm in the winter and then I switch to the short cut ankle ones in the summer. For some reason, someone told me to pour vtec sauce all over the sock before I installed it. Something about hitting vtak or something like that would increase my chances of betting a civic?!?

I said I don't want a title!
Re: Short ram or Cold air (Easyslider01)
CAI is nice and makes more overall power, but for the street--I'll pass.
The comptech icebox or a short ram with a panel to blockoff the hot air will work just fine.
