But see, that doesn't work. The butt dyno believes what it wants. The real dyno reveals all.

Mind Explaining how?

Actually the bypass valve does not hurt the performance or the cai. It is spring loaded with flaps that cover the air inlet holes. The flaps do not open unless the filter is submerged in water or blocked off some how. When the filter is returned to open air the flaps are no longer open. AEM puts a lot of time in development of all of their products and if it didnt work they would not sell it.
In some instances the short ram intake by AEM makes more power than the cold air. All you have to do is go to aempower.com and look up your application then click on the adobe file beside the description to see their dyno results.

Well here is a REAL dyno from 6 years ago............
+9 whp/+9 wtq on a D15B7

CAI wins.........
The reason the bypass valve negates the "ram effect" tuning, it disrupts the harmonics, killing the gain from the resonance pulse waves.
There is a paper the MIT/NACA put out in 1944 that goes into some detail about the "ram effect" tuning that is still used today.

you mean you'd pay $900, or is you redneck math all fucked up from breathing the fumes oh your over rich Holley fed 406 SBC? Seems a littlew small for a carb that came on a 302 DZ motor in 1969..........
I think $100 for 9hp on a NA motor is well spent. How much is that fancy K&N air filter or the Accel blingin blue filter?????
$136 for a 14x3.75 filter with a 1.25 drop base.......would that even clear your hood?
I guess you think the ram effect theory is bullshit.
85-92 Tuned Port injection
93-97 LT1's
98-05 LS1 and LS2 (plastic intake!)
502 Ramjet..........
So meathead, before you go bashing on people, some here have played with SBC/BBC/BBB/SBF/BBF/Mopar before tinkering with a little 91 CID wonder. I've been doing this for 25+ years.........
you dig dawg?
