Question On Rebuilt Transmissions
Would you guys recommend buying one? Or would you just get a used one? My technician says it's better getting a used one than a rebuilt one but I'm asking for opinions here what do you guys say??

Re: Question On Rebuilt Transmissions
I think the only thing to worry about with getting a used transmission would be the seller being truthful about the condition of the transmission that they are selling.

Re: Question On Rebuilt Transmissions
yeah I'd be more worried depending on who built it, or where it was built, what parts used. But on a used one not rebuilt you worry about grinding and how beat up it was and et.
It's a loose loose situation

Re: Question On Rebuilt Transmissions
if you have a trusted mechanic to bring it to to get rebuilt, than do that. But if you are buying it used, who knows how much abuse is on it. And if you are buying a used rebuilt tranny, who knows who rebuilt it. I would find a trusted mechanic and then have them rebuild it....just me though.

Re: Question On Rebuilt Transmissions
depending on your budget, goal, and time situation. If you're not in a hurry, do some research/shopping and find ones w/ low miles from newer years(anything with high miles would def. need clutch/flywheel replaced and that may be very costly). But if you need something asap, as others mentioned above, finding someone trustworthy would def. be plus!, especially if you need a quick job. GL.

Re: Question On Rebuilt Transmissions
I would say it depends on if its a daily driver or not. If you have to drive it everyday, then buy a used one and have it rebuilt by a shop thats been around for more than 10 years. Otherwise send the one you've got to a good shop.
These are two excellent places to get your transmissions reworked/rebuilt. They do individual gears, complete straight cut gears..pretty much any option you would want. They do a great job.
1. King Motorsports Unlimited, Inc. (New Berlin, WI) www.kingmotorsports.com
2. Club RSX (not sure where) www.clubrsx.com -link: http://www.clubrsx.com/browse/cr/?fM...&universal=yes

Re: Question On Rebuilt Transmissions
its really a loose loose situation... who built it, what parts were used... then you got how badly the person abuse the used tranny, which gears does it grind...
Either or is taking a chance!

Re: Question On Rebuilt Transmissions
Honda remanufactured transmissions have a 3 year 36000 mile warranty and they are not that expensive compared to some of the others sold out there
Def something to look at

Re: Question On Rebuilt Transmissions
Most likely the people that rebuilt it did not use factory Honda parts. So therefore the internals are probably not as good as a factory set up.
I would probably go used before rebuilt and used would be cheaper too!
