s1 tranny dying
any way to save it or rebuild it...how much to rebuild, or just look for another tranny?any ideas.........3rd grinds everytime now...lil in 4th and 5th rarely...double clutchin for the last 3 months...time to do sumthing b4 i get caught off the side of the road.3rd also slips at high rpm...savable?
Saving it is petty much out of the question..
If you have 3 gears that grind then rebuilding would consist of alot of mechanical knowledge, gear and synchro sets, shifter forks and a whole lotta room for error..
cost prolly around $200+ for parts if you did it yourself..
A junkyard tranny would prolly cost you around $300..
if you plan on having a qualified mechanic do this job, then take into consideration.. Its a whole lot cheaper replacing a tranny than it is to have one rebuilt for you...
