Default Need a Catalytic Converter

I got an 2002 Civic Si and I am looking for catalytic converter that is California legal and suggestions of where I can find this cheaper then Honda's ridiculous $1057 price tag? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm assuming you have a Check Engine light on with a P0420 code, and your car has more than 80,000 miles on it and was originally sold prior to today's date in 2002. Have you run the car for any length of time with a misfire code or a code related to the air:fuel ratio?

Nothing other than the OE Honda converter is going to work for you. Period. Honda's converter costs what it does for a reason: they have more of the precious materials (platinum, rhodium, etc.) inside needed to catalyze the exhaust gases. The raw materials required to make a catalytic converter cost a lot of money.

Most aftermarket converters are illegal for OBD-II cars in California (see here) - not to mention the fact that the vast majority of them are crap and don't last much longer than a year's worth of daily driving, because they don't have enough of the materials inside needed to work properly and last. This is why they are cheap.

If you don't like it, move to a state with no emission testing.

For an OE Honda converter, buy from here for $790 plus shipping.
