DC5R 5-Lug/Brembo Conversion on 03 EP3 - Pictures!

Re: (BarracksSi)
I don't plan on tucking the tires inside the fender ... I would like to get them flush with the side of the body of the car that is all ... I've always been one after performance first ... so if the car performs better than it used to I will be pleased

I'm not talking about tucking them -- that requires a drop of more than two inches. I'm talking about keeping the tires & wheels inboard of the fender lines so that they don't risk rubbing.

Re: Re: (97 TYPE-R 312)
I was only able to get -1.1 deg in the front and -1.9 deg in the rear at this current ride height. I have camber plates in the front ... nothing in the rear. I heard it was hard to get much negative camber in the front due to the long tie rods?? I was able to get -1.6 deg with my old setup in the front. I would like to get some more camber just not sure how ...
I'm having some rubbing issues on the rear fenders so I need to get the car into my friends body shop to do some tweaking. The fronts are fine ... no issues at all. I currently have my Tein's on their stiffest setting with all my rear interior out of the car to help over big bumps.
I did however gain about 2 inches of track ... I don't know the exact numbers as Jack did all the measurements so he would be the best to answer that.
I will take another side shot today and post it tonight or tomorrow.

I wouldn't go as far as sticking out ... flush with the body yes
This is a completely different car from a stock EP3 ... even a huge difference from my last setup ... 2 inch track gain is huge for handling. Can't wait to get it on the track soon for a good shakedown!
This by far is one of the best handling cars I have ever driven ... hopefully she'll rotate nicely in the turns

Should be cool; what size sways do you have on there? If you can take out some of that rear camber, and/or add another full degree in front (might have to use camber bolts), it'll be even more rotate-able.
By contrast, my EP, with 0 camber in front and -2 in back, really doesn't want to rotate much at all.. lol

WOW! I personally wouldn't say that. I'm still not completely happy with the overall suspension. Just not a fan of the macs. Guess the TYPE-R has spoiled me a bit.

I'm using both the sways on the DC5-R (23mm in the front and 22mm in the rear). I believe the stock EP3 sways were 25mm (front) and 15mm (rear)

How are 225/45-17" tires on them 17x7 wheels? I might end up w/ 05 wheels again, but I am worried about 225/45 rolling over too much...even though they are Azenis w/ stiff sidewalls, 225 is too wide for 7" to me.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I've been satisfied with the 225's at this point (only daily driving) ... they don't seem to roll/squirm. The 225/45-17 is reinforced ... so the sidewalls seem to be very stiff. I ran 225/50-15 on my previous setup ... those tires were a little big for a 15x7 rim ... but still performed very well at track events. The ride is def much stiffer with the 17" rims now. I run 225/45-17 on my other car with a 17x7.5 rim ... there is a little difference in sidewall height, but like I said I can't really tell if the tire is moving around that much ... seems very stiff. Hopefully will have a chance to shake down the car a little bit at Summit Point in a couple weeks.
Since the swap ... I've bedded in the brakes and basically put a few hundred street miles on the car. The 4 pots up front with bigger rotors makes a huge difference. I've been very pleased with the setup ... I haven't been able to push the car to the limits due to some slight rubbing issues in the rear ... need to get that all worked out.
I'll have a detailed writeup/review after the Summit Point event.

I heard rotors and pads are hard to replace, but you can use 350Z Brembo pads on them.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Not yet ... but we'll see after a couple track events. I've never run Mugen rotors with Carbotech pads so I do not know the life I will get out of this setup. I'm hoping they will wear as well as my brembo blanks did.
Yes it is very hard to find DC5-R rotor replacements in the US ... this is what I know. Mugen makes a front/rear replacement slotted rotor. The prices per pair are - fronts $480 & rears $200. I finally was able to get a connection for Honda OEM replacement rotors in the US, but the price savings is slim - fronts $400 & rears $200. The Honda OEM rotor is made by Brembo ... I have the P/N and I am trying to contact someone at Brembo US to see if I can get a better deal directly through them. I will let you know how that goes. Other than that ... I have not fount any other sources for rotor replacement in the US.
Yes, the front pads are the same as the 350Z Track Package/Skyline R34 GTR. The rears are the same as the S2000. I had no problem finding pads for the car.
All that being said ... expect to pay close to $1000 dollars each time you have to replace rotors/pads with this swap. The days of EP3 prices are long gone ...
If anyone has any more info on rotor replacement sources ... the info would be much appreciated.

Your buddy Kack knows I work at Brembo....
1k for rotors on a Honda? LMFAO....Jeez, I need to start a side business. For a grand I could set you up with a two piece rotor setup.

Re: (knwldge54)
I have *H* center caps off of my stock SI wheels but they did not fit ... I will more than likely wait and see what I do with the rims ... I may just keep the Type S set for track use and get a set of 60mm offset rims for street to pull the tires in a little. The wide stance on the track was awesome ... the car did very well at Summit Point ... just need to look into getting some R compounds. The RT-615's kept wanting to lock up in the front with the bigger brakes. More bias to the rear would solve this, but I think R compounds will do the trick as well.
