<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by redronin22 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Its not that heavy when u compare it to its modern day contemporarys.
Consider a EVO rs. It has no standard features (AC is an option) but still weighs in @ 3000+ lbs. The Rsx aint so bad, just dont compare it to previous Gen cars.

Also 17's are fine looking. If u dont like the big wheels u can always put on a set for track days anyways. Not everyone wants 14" wheels on a sporty/luxury coupe The rsx is a much taller car then older Hondas so it needs bigger wheels to look preportional </TD></TR></TABLE>

Uh, just because it can be near the price of an Evo, doesnt mean you can put it into the same classification of weight. Its a FWD sport compact coupe. Not a turbo, AWD sedan.

I heard the extra weight comes from more sound isolation material, but who knows.

Where are all the haters now who didn't believe me when I confirmed that the 05 Type S would have more power?

Bigger wheels and swaybars will add more weight, but it won't account for all of the extra weight. They must have added more sound deadening, impact beams or something.

Thanks for putting this online. I work at Superior Acura in Cincinnati and we havent even seen pics of the 05 RSX yet. I think it looks pretty sweet, i might even consider getting one for myself! I just wish they gave the base model more power, it needs it from a selling perspective.

Front looks like a 7th Gen Civic coupe/sedan. Rear looks like a Prelude. I really liked the lower half circles they had on the head and tail lights. People in a few years that don't know too much about Hondas might get confused about which 'redesign' is the newer and which is older. And does it come with HIDs yet? What about Navigation? Wheels look decent. Good for the performance upgrade.

Screw it, lock the thread bro. This little discussion will go no where. Remember the GSR VS. RSX-S threads from back in the day? Now its the old RSX vs. new RSX. Time to lock and end all the headachs.

It appears both the Type S and the Base have extra weight on.
73 lbs for Type S and somewhere bwtn 35-40 lbs on the Base.
Not a big deal but quite a gain for just some changes.</TD></TR></TABLE>

did you not notice that the sway bars are bigger and the wheels are larger in diameter and width. it may have a little more structural support (an add on type thing. i'm not suggesting the chassis is different.) and it might have a few new options to the interior that make it heavier. probably the new bumpers and maybe the headlights are a little heavier too.

Ah good! Someone noticed my post. The weight thing is quite mind boggling.
Base is about 35-40lbs heavier, still uses 16 inch wheels.
Type S is 73 lbs heavier but on 17's. So we can kind of assume 30 lbs diff
bwtn the S and the Base comes from bigger rims and tires.
But where is the 35lbs-40lbs gain coming from on the base which
I assume is also accounted for on the S. I know there are bigger
sway bars and some newer seats in the interior but will it account for a
35-40lbs gain???

Help guys cause I am most likely getting an S soon but I am waiting for the 05's
to hit the lot first. I'll do my comparisons and see which one I'll pick (04 or 05).
The final drive, power gain and other misc new stuff on the 05 I'm ok with
but the weight gain puzzles me especially since the Base gained about 40lbs.

Why cant i place them in the same weight class? they are both compact sports cars. Both just happen to go a different route. Im just trying to say thats its not as heavy as you are trying to make it seem. Yes it is a tad on the fat side but look at all the other compacts today. They are ALL gaining weight.

The Evo is not a sports car, its a sports sedan (keyword: SEDAN) Sedan = 4 Doors 4 Doors = more weight

And the RSX is not a sports car, its a Sport compact coupe .... Compact = smaller , and should equal lightweight. Actually all Honda compacts have been very lightweight weight untill recently.

Feeling the rims...don't like the new headlights or the taillights. The new bumper Fasica is interesting....may grow on me. But the RSX seems to have lost it identity.
