Re: NSX 2.0 Central Information Office
Not a lot of new info is out about the next NSX. However, in other news, the NSX concept gt competing in Super GT is acting as a moving obstacle course for the series leaders.

Some interesting info:
- the NSX will be built in the new 184k sq. ft. $70 million dollar Performance Manufacturing Center by 100 hand picked and exhaustively trained Honda associates.
- less automation than in other plants.
- Honda has invested $12.3 billion in manufacturing facilities in the US.

Ohio will be the sole source of the sports car that will be sold as an Acura in North America and a Honda in the rest of the world.
Honda is spending $70 million to transform a former logistics center into what it calls a Performance Manufacturing Center. Honda of America Chief Executive Hidenobu Iwata and Ohio Gov. John Kasich unfurled a banner proclaiming the building as the "Future Home of the Acura NSX."
"We have an outstanding team of engineers just down the road who will lead the development of the NSX," Iwata said in a speech. "It makes sense that we will renew the dream and build this high-tech, supercar right here in Marysville, Ohio."
The original NSX was Honda's first car with an all-aluminum body. It was built at Honda's Takanezawa, Japan, plant from 1990 to 2004 when production moved to its Suzuka, Japan, plant for a year.
Honda sold about 18,000 over 15 years, but sales fell to a few hundred, which led to the decision to discontinue the NSX in 2005. Enthusiasts have called for its return ever since.
The 184,000 square-foot Performance Manufacturing Center will be Honda's third auto assembly plant in Ohio. Unlike the Marysville and East Liberty, Ohio, plants, the new facility will have less automation. Much of the car and its engine will be hand built.
"In the coming days, we will begin to transfer about 100 associates from other plants to this project," Iwata said. Honda executive Clement D'Souza will lead the production team.
Motor Trend estimates the NSX will be a $130,000 hybrid with a 3.7-liter V6 and three electric motors combining for 480 horsepower. Honda has only confirmed that it is a mid-mounted V6 that will be mated to an all-wheel-drive system.
John Spoltman, manager of the Anna plant, said the engine will be built on a separate line by workers who will be rewarded to produce it.
Honda was the first Japanese automaker to assemble vehicles in the United States, beginning in 1982. Last fall Honda marked the 30-year anniversary of the Accord rolling off the Marysville line.
In three decades, Honda has invested more than $12.3 billion in the U.S., including $8 billion in Ohio. The 900 engineers in Ohio are taking on increased responsibility for global development of Honda vehicles — including the NSX under chief engineer Ted Klaus — and the next-generation Civic for 2016.
Honda's seven plants in North America — which also include Alliston, Ontario; Greensburg, Ind.; Lincoln, Ala.; and Russells Point, Ohio — can produce 1.63 million vehicles a year. That will grow to 1.92 million cars when a new $800 million plant in Celaya, Mexico, starts production in 2014.

In other words, even at current capacity, they are building a lot more cars than people are buying.
Even the very popular and perceived as successful new Accord is ending up in long term open storage because the entire production is not being purchased.
That's true of all manufacturers, pretty much, except the very top tier brands like Bentley.

Re: NSX 2.0 Central Information Office
Yeah, understand. However, I think there are more factors involved to determine need outside of current sales numbers:
- gradually phasing out older factories.
- minimizing production cost.
- minimizing FX, economic, political, and natural disaster risk (Honda seems very sensitive about all of those).
- opportunity cost.
Honda has a whole team of FAs and economists that plug all of these variables into algorithms that quantify the +/- of going a certain direction. Of course, that's just one component of making a decision.

Well, the disastrous NSX 2.0 Super GT program had everyone worried and … it's totally been resurrected.
Some chassis tuning at Suzuka testing proved successful as one of the teams was tops during the morning session. But later in the afternoon…
SUZUKA TRACK RECORD: 1:49842!

The new Honda NSX will be competing against models such as the Lamborghini Huracan, the Ferrari 458 Italia or the McLaren 650S in terms of performance and it is believed to pack an impressive 3.7 v6 sha-awd 600 HP. Its starting price will be set at approximately 110,000 USD and the model will be produced in Ohio, USA, in 2015.
Honda aint playin nomore games, they got homework to catchup.!

So the Weider race team that runs one of the NSX GT Concepts in SuperGT actually won the race last week.
The race car has absolutely nothing in common with the actual NSX outside of general body lines…and SuperGT uses a weight handicap…so don't get too excited.

Yeah the developmental path of both cars is completely different... It's good to see they are starting to get both pointed in the right direction though!

You know all that $$$ spent.Honda is actually entering 2015 f1 as Mclaren engine supplier.Something wrong with the picture here. They can built a badass f1 engine for mclaren but they can't built a fast production nsx for them and market.

Re: NSX 2.0 Central Information Office
But it doesn't mean I can't enjoy it from the sidelines, or hope to have a chance at one at some point. I'd way rather see a V6 with hybrid than a V8 without, but that's just me appreciating technology and doing things the hard way for the sake of advancing it.
Seriously, hybrid sports cars are where it's at. I can't wait for the trickle down. Electric motors will be the new forced induction, give it time to mature.
