Many of the current "Honda" OE branded filters are indeed manufactured by FRAM (used to be Allied Signal, now Honeywell). The better quality OEM ones are made by Filtech. Filtech is a US division of Toyo Roki in Japan. A quick way to tell the difference between the Fram made OEM's and the Filtech made is, Filtech: Part # ending in A01 Fram: Part # ending in A02

Following are a few links showing the quality or lack there of related to the FRAM products:

You may scoff at it being an RSX link but since Honda suggested us to use the newer smaller RSX filter the above link can be directly related to our cars.

Here is another awesome link showing specs and many pics of all sorts of avaiable filters cut apart to expose everything there is to know about them:

purolator also makes filters for mobil 1, so if you are paying more for a mobil1 filter they are the same as the blue purolators

Looks like mainly independent shops carry WIX filters. Is there a Walker Auto near you?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Try NAPA. WIX makes their filters.

The theory is that a smaller filter would raise the oil pressure and in return yielding better VTEC activation, *shrugs shoulders*, the other side of the argument is a larger filter will give more area which will help lower the oil temperature. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Oil Pan -&gt; Oil Pump -&gt; Filter -&gt; Engine

If the filter was restrictive then there would be a larger pressure drop across it. You are looking for the least restrictive filter that can still filter out particles of a set micron size. From your post above it sounds like you are implying that a smaller filter would raise pressure due to being more restrictive than say a larger filter. But this is the opposite of what is happening. The filter can't generate more pressure than the oil pump puts out.

You can't make the assumption, based on the outside dimensions of a given filter, that one filter is more or less restrictive than another.

I did not think too much on teh higher oil pressure theory, I like the bigger filter better. I just posted that so people get an idea on why there is a comparison or debate between the smaller and larger filter. I bought all 3 I though people would like to know the difference in case anyone has a preference.

For me now is a debate between the remote filter system with canton and their drop in filters, or someone elses reusable filter media. Pull it out wash it out and stick back in. Oil changes everymonth hurt the pocket. If I can save some money without out sacrificing the motor ( main concern) with a dirty filter and unfiltered oil, then that would be the route I'd like to take.
At this point the Canton system looks good. No pressure loss and no bypassign fo the filter. All oil is filtered.
