Windshield smashed
I wrecked my car a few weeks ago...about 2500 worth of damage. My hood was fine but the latch was pretty bent.
Today I hooked up my vafcII and had it running finally and I took down the road to test it out. I hit a slight bump in the road and BAM!! the hood owned my windshield. It flew up, bent the brackets and smashed my windshield. Heres my dilemna...
Stock ITR windshield $510!!! uninstalled
Thats a lot...but i will replace it with the stock windshield unless you guys have a better alternative. If you do feel free to enlighten me...
BTW, how much of a difference, if there is one,
is the Type R windshield from other integra models?
For now, Im going out and having a little traditional NC fun

go to your nearest glass place and get a generic replacement.
depending on your insurance it should cover it (I know Geico has a mechnical breakdown option).

Yea it sux....the R has been through a lot these past few weeks. The only good thing out of the whole deal is Im replacing it with a jdm c west front end...so that is a plus
Zero difference between Type R windshield and other Integra windshields.
But that sounds about right for OEM glass. Aftermarket is (I think) in the $3xx range.

I would only use OEM Honda glass...I've heard other horror stories about people getting their Hondas replaced w/ non-OEM glass...
don't be cheap w/ the windshield, a leaky one is a real problem that could lead to others....my .02

edit: AS for glass cvg, you might not have to pay, look at your policy and see if you have "full glass coverage"
Your 500 might be towards vehicle accidents and not have anything to do with glass.

Call Safelite up at 1800-800-ASAP and they'll give you a quote. The part # is FW751 BTN if you want it shaded. Price is $91.00 dollars for the windshield and labor is usaully 50 bucks. Safelites manufacturer is located in NC so it probaly cheaper down there.
As far as leakin goes it's the installers fault for being cheap with the urethane, usaully takes 2 tube that cost 5 bucks each but some installers are cheap and try to spread 1 tube for a whole windshield
. If you want I can get the windshield for you and have it installed if your willing to take a road trip to Philly

I made a comment in that other thread that Bbasso referenced, but I'll say it here too. Use OEM glass. My experience with cheap glass is that it didn't fit, but worst of all, it wasn't optically correct. The glass had visible "ripples" in it that caused distortion when you looked through it. It was enough to give me a headache after driving for a while.
Also, who did the repair on the hood latch?

the hood latch hadnt been fixed yet. The body shop said the car was ok to drive...the hood would close completely but i guess since it was bent it gave loose
crap... i was in my bf's car when his crappy cf hood popped open on the freeway when it separated from its latch.. that was scary... while it didnt smash the windshield, it dented the roof and killed the partially open moonroof shattering fiberglass and glass on us.. i forgot why he had to replace his windshield.. but it was only like ~$200 for the glass and install... same brand as what honda uses too...
i wonder what the body shop will say if u call them and tell them what happend... i'll bet all they'll do is feel bad... =\

I would listen to the advice given. I had to relpace the winshield on my pickup and I used a generic brand, needless to say it leaks.
Aside from that the stock windshield can take quite a beating. On the freeway I have had some rocks hit and they only leave a small dent. I dont think other glasses will put up the same. I know I don't want glass in my face at 80mph.
