Re: Why are Integra Type Rs stolen so much? (miguel329)
It's the street racing crowd that has made theft so common on these cars, Type R's and Hondas in general. All these parts are going to people who are illegaly racing these cars to begin with, most probably only have liability on their insurance so if they get some body damage or what not they just take the body parts they stole repaint them and walla they are back to racing again, no cost to them they don't pay for the parts they stole or the damage to their cars that they did by driving like idiots. The performance parts are stole just for that, Performance. They can't afford anything legit so they just take everyone elses **** who did pay legit for it. If you have had a Type R in the past like me and had it stolen and stripped the best you can hope for is that these ball less lowlifes will eventually hit a cement highway divider wall doing about 120 mph and have that stolen engine and tranny shoehorned straight up their *** so they will have a permanant reminder for the rest of their lives! The strange thing is if you go to autotrader.com , at least where I live you can't even find but a hand full of integras for sale, seems odd, most have probably been totalled and the rest stolen and stripped. A used GSR for sale here is unheard of. I simply haven't seen any used, I know GSRs are more rare than base ls and rs integras but there were still quite a few sold over the years, where the hell are they all, it's hard to find even used ls and rs integras! I have only owned one Honda in my life and it will probably wind up being my last! It's not worth having to worry about someone trying to steal your **** constantly, it's ridiculous! I realize you need to take precautions, but alot of people on here don't take there cars anywhere because they're afraid of it getting stolen and if you do take it anywhere they make it seem like you are asking for it if it gets stolen. What the hell is the point of having a car if you can't drive the damn thing? I took my Type R everywhere, period, I didn't buy it to sit in a garage it's whole life like it was a half a million dollar brick of gold! I drove it and parked it everywhere I went, it got used! Granted it did get stolen, but with 106,000 on the tach, it didn't sit idle in the garage for the majority of it's life with 15,000 miles on it because I was paranoid about it being stolen. Alot of people on here have the mentality that if you park it at a mall it's your fault, how so, it's not a Ferrari and it was bought to be driven. If your going to keep it parked you would be better off buying a Monogram model kit for $15-$20 and save yourself the Xthousand amount of dollars and have yourself a shelfqueen. I have nothing against Hondas, it was a great car, but in my opinion and from what I have seen with my own eyes it is the Honda/import crowd that is the worst when it comes to acting like idiots on the street, Redlight racing, reving their engines to egg you into racing if you have a nice car, driving beside you on the highway to get you to race them, brake checking you like complete idiots, the list goes on and on, and the majority of these people are driving Hondas! I miss the R but Honda will have a tough sale for me in the future unless they lose these thieving idiots as their majority crowd!

Re: (EH_3)
it's absurd to me why some guys insist on dumping so much cash into this car.
I could practically buy 2 beater E36 m3's or a e46 m3 or a high-mile 996 911 for 1 Type-R.
It's just plain silly to put up with all this theft b.s. PLUS it's not even FR. Type-R was awesome back in 1998 but time has moved on...
Now...if you were talking about a 95 m3 factory lightweight...THAT's a different story.

Were else can you make like 7k+ in one grab. Sad but true. Plus many itr owners add a lot of aftermarket items to there care making it even more of a target. And a sad part is alot of them have no security or stock security

cuz they rathre steal it then work for it.
to this day im 27 now besided the good values my parents instilled in me if i ever stole anything let alone a car My parents would rat me out if they found out... My gf said she would rat me out to if i commited any crime..
if you suround your self with upstanding people most of the time the people follow it.
but when your a low life and have no future you go to easy route cuz you have taken short cuts your whole life

Don't get me wrong, ITR is a great car. It kicks *** in sanctioned competition. But daily driving is not sanctioned competition. For the upfront cost and headaches in an urban environment it's a handicapp to your lifestyle and future growth/ aspirations.
A person has only a limited amount of energy per day. Day to day, you've got a set amount to spend. For the worry, daily hassle and attention one spends on this car, you could be thinking of a new business idea to sell/launch, planning out your future or simply thinking how to get in the girl's pants who lives a few doors down.
Insight, freedom and 'light-bulbs' are moment-to-moment gigs; you pay as you go. This car takes away energy (and fund$) that could be put to better use elsewhere.
This is a great example of energy wasted from a recent thread. Sorry to be the a$$hole on the forums today:
----------------------------
"I drove my R out and got home late tonight so I just left my ITR parked in my driveway with a club, autoloc, and my lojack alarm armed since I didn't wanna wake anybody up in the house with my loud *** garage. Obviously I wasn't going to just leave her there by herself so I blocked her in with my LS. I don't know which car these ******** were going for, but if I catch them, imma [freak] them up real bad. I have a pretty good ammount of security in both of my cars so im surprised they got that far. ******** pulled my driver side window to get in. What scares me is that I didn't hear my alarm go off and I was awake the whole time. Plus my aunt whos staying with us from Utah is sleeping a room facing the street and my cars and she didn't hear **** either. Anyways, cops gave me a ride down the block to my car. All they took was my ipod with a cracked screen. I drove it back up, put my R in the garage since everyone was awake now, and locked up my LS in the driveway with two autolocs, a club, and my alarm. Sorry for the incoherent rambling but im pretty [freak]in pissed and its 3am right now"

itr's get stolen so much cause of there 5 lug suspension and wheels and motor and interior...type r motors are the only motors built by hand, and 5 lug doesn't come on any car to be a direct fit for the other civic and integra, factory wise. And the interior is very nice made out of suede and good quality material. And very rare. Basically that why they are still worth money till this day.

you have a lot of broke people who try and play honda. like everyone else has said. most of the parts find their way onto EG's and base model intergas. ethics aside, i would never risk going to jail over a couple thousand measly dollars. other people don't see it that way.
