Weight of Type R -- how light can you get them?
Just curious...mine weighed in at 2425lbs in SM autox trim (I still have a/c intact and working).
Anyone have any other weights to compare with?

I wasn't in the car. And that's with no rear seats and a CF hood. However, as said before--a/c is still in the car.

this what was removed when mine was corner balanced at 2607
-a/c
-rear seats
-spare tire and jack
lighter items installed
-mugen s1 seats
-mugen bumper and hood(c/f)
-mf10's
thats why im so impressed by your cars lightness..ive done a few other things to lighten the car further but have yet to re balnce it
-rear lexan hatch window
-no p/s
-washer resevoir
-aluminum a/c bracket
-mugen brakes
-few other things that should add up to lighten it up a few lbs

Re: Weight of Type R -- how light can you get them? (Todd00)
my type r weighs 2350. That is everything out of the rear, cf hood, no ac, power steering pump is gone, volk te37s. I still have everything in the front like the panels and stereo. It is just gutted in the rear. So, I would imagine if you were to gut everything you could get it to 2200-2250. Even lighter with race seats and lexan windows.

Somebody told me that one of the big japanese names, I think Spoon, got the DC2 chassis down to 2000 pounds. I'm sure it's doable, but tricky.

Mine weighed 2533:
No spare or tools
No windsheild wiper resivoir
No resonator box
No windsheild wipers
No trunk area cover
Mine is stock so I didn't lose any weight from performance mods I.E. lighter exhaust, header, intake.

where do you all go to weigh in and corner balance your car?
and what does corner balancing consist of? is it suspension tuning, or is it adding/removing weight from corners of the car?
thanks

and 2) what does corner balancing consist of? is it suspension tuning, or is it adding/removing weight from corners of the car?
2) usually performed on cars w/coilover setups in which it is possible to raise or lower each corner of the car separately
why ... to help better distribute the weight of the vehicle onto each of the wheels/tires/contact patches
