Does this sound like a wheel/break issue?
I have noticed a sound while driving and it appears to stop when breaking but that may be a mistaken assumption. The sound is similar to the sound you hear when using scissors without actually cutting anything. Do you think asking my mechanic to check the wheel/break area is a good place to start looking?

When you brake pads wear down, there is a wear indicator that screams out. It starts off soft, and the close they get to complete wear out, the louder they get. Check out these videos to see if it sounds similar. (Also, you usually don't have much time left to change your brake pads out when you hear this , before it becomes metal on metal and damage to your brake rotors occurs, thus resulting in new brake rotors needing to be purchased)
And then 30 seconds into this video VVV

thanks for the advice. To answer your question none of the videos sound like the car.
its almost a "shushing" sound but perhaps slightly more metallic sounding. It's much easier to hear when driving on a quiet street or next to walls that bounce the sound back. I will bring in to the shop

okay the mechanic took a look and said the rotors and breaks were fine. What I am hearing is a bit of rust on the perimeter of the rotor and its an old car. He said cars perfectly safe and does not suggest investing in new breaks and rotors
