Vtec Problem
I have a vtec problem. I had a comptech high flow cat for about 2,000 miles now. When I first put on the cat, the vtec engaged fine. But today, I pushed it and the vtec engaged but it stopped. It was hestitating all the way to redline. I could hear the vtec and it was very loud around 5800-6000 rpm but it stopped after that. It took a very long time to get to redline. This was in first gear. It took longer to get to 30-40 than from 0-30. Please help? I checked my oil level and it was fine. It is in the middle. Thanks in advance.
This is not an issue with your comptech cat. Most likely there is an issue residing in the distributor i.e. cap/rotor or the housing itself. As B2finity suggested, check your plugs, wires and dist. One quick easy way to test it is just swap out a distributor with one from another GSR..corresponding year.

Yes it is, I am willing to bet the catalyst material broke apart and is blocking exhaust flow when you hit VTEC. It happens all the time with high flow cats.
