Default VAFC problem

My Vafc is having trouble monitoring the throttle position. Lately it has been giving incorrect readings, like if I put my foot on the floor, it should read 100% but it will only go up to 50%-75%. It will always start out like that. Every once in a while it corrects itself if the car has been on for at least 15-20 mins. This just started about a week ago and the VAFC has been installed for 4 months now. Does the VAFC even need that reading to make accurate F/A mixtures? or is it just monitoring it for the hell of it. It does not seem to be hurting the car in terms of power and mixture. .....yet!!??!!?? Thoughts??

It needs an accurate reading to ensure proper air/fuel with whatever settings you may have given for fuel correction and whatnot....I'm not sure what would be causing that problem though, but I'd definitely look into getting it figured out. Or just try initializing it and start again from scratch.

Re-initialize it and see if it fixes itself permanently.

Do you solder the wires? I believe there is some errors with the tps if the wires are soldered, or aren't soldered well/correctly.

My wires aren't soldered, but I've never had a problem with TPS. I've heard it's best to solder the wires but I have had the V-AFC in for about a year and honestly don't see any reason to. Chris, you're the first person I've heard mention that soldering may cause problems, so now I'm a little glad I never went ahead and did it. Like I said before, I would just try to initialize and start over. Good luck.

I believe I read that on itrca recently. I'll go and check (about soldering). If that's not the issue, reset/reinitialize and make sure all the wires are connected well.

Why would soldering the wires be a problem? I have never experienced a problem except with my own car lol. I would like to read that article on itrca, does anybody have the link?

I don't see how that is funny. Bad connection - possible bad info. I do not know where the thread is on itrca, i'm searching for it now. Anyways, I already said I wasn't sure, did you read that part too??

Solder/No solder make sno difference. As long as your connections are solid, it's not a wiring issue.

im having the same exact problem. when the key is in the "on" position and engine is off, the vafc reads 100% when i floor it. but when the ENGINE is ON and i floor it, the vafc only reads 94.XX%. i have tried to reintialize it, but it is the same. let me know what you do to fix the problem.

my car also did the same thing a while back. The VAFC was in for a while and all of a sudden it was actin the same way yours is now. I originally had the wires spliced together with electrical tape covering it. I double checked all my connections and soldered the wires together and havent had the problem yet, its been about 3 months now.

I dug up the instruction manual (its actually the downloaded one from apex.com) and I am going to look at some settings and what not to see it that will fiix it. If not I'll be lifting the carpet. I'll have to update this thread on Monday, as I don't have a PC at home. (yet). I traded my old PC for an exhaust.

I have check some settings and stuff seems correct, except for the sensor volt readings seem to off. I did a throttle position test and it seemed to get going (at least for now). Now my Vtec in (VTi) does not come on. I know I did not make any changes. This has never happened before. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.
