VAFC issue
I have had my VAFC installed for 2 weeks now. My friend helped me install it and do the wiring and such. We did not solder the connections as i know i should have. He used connectors instead. Everything has been working fine up until tonight.
This unit has a precise RPM reading from what i understand. My tach is off around 180 rpms or so (nothing big). I have not got my car dyno'ed yet but i decided to lower the VTEC point and up the fuel from 5300 to 5700 (and also turned up the fuel pressure as well 5 psi to be safe). I know i am running rich now. Anyhow, i noticed tonight that VTEC wouldn't engage until 5800 rpms or so on the VAFC (which is real RPMS) instead of 5300. When i had set it to 5300 a week ago it would engage at 5300 as it should. Now it won't engage until 5800. Could a connection of come loose? Should i pull out the ECU and check the connections? Info on the matter will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Check all the connections then solder the connections dont use pinch connecters they will loosen after time. (it happened to my car after soldering it it was fine) The reason your tach doesnt match the V-AFC is because the stock tach isn't very accurate. I really wouldnt mess with the settings on the V-AFC GET IT TUNED AT THE DYNO and leave the settings alone. The reason I say that is my freind detonated his motor by playing around with his V-AFC.(his car was running fine then bbbbbbbbbbooooooooooooommmmmmmmmm!!!!!) Hope that helps
Feel like a post ***** tonight!
Oh well i just test drove the car again. Actuallly what is happening is VTEC is engaging from the RPM that i set it at on the VAFC, however, the little VTEC indicator thingy on the VAFC which you can monitor when your car is in VTEC or not does not show the car to be in VTEC until 5800 rpms. Please help!

Do you have the money to dyno your car? If so try putting the settings back to stock (V-tec). Then write down the fuel settings then set them to 0. Go to a shop that will dyno tune your car and set the V-AFC, After that you're car should run like a champ. Ive talked to Apexi a lot of times trying to get settings from them and they are very reluctant to give any info. The only thing they will say is take it to XS engineering or dynamic autosports and have them set it for you. And after my friend blew up his accord motor trying to adjust his himself. I dont mess with mine the only time my settings will change is during dyno tuning.
