I have no idea how oil could be comming up from underneath the carpet unless he spilled oil and put the carpet back down. I am going way out on a limb here, but is it possible that the a/c system is leaking and its oil somehow dripping down the inside of the firewall and into the floor pan?

I have had oil in my passenger side floor before And everywhere else for that matter.

Any chance you have an oil catchcan on the passenger side of the engine bay? Check to see if it ran down from the firewall somewhere..

Previous owner may have had an oil pressure gauge too, a mechanical one that leaked.

It seems more likely that it was spilled though, and after time just settled to the bottom of the floor.

Are you sure it's oil? Another possibility is that the drain tube for A/C condensation is clogged, which would make water drip onto the passenger side floor...

r134a is mixed with PAG oil so it's a possibility if the evaporator unit is leaking.

Check behind the glovebox to rule out the a/c system that's leaking.

im not sure it's oil, but looks like, greasy like, doesn't quite smell like oil but might just be old oil. no leaks form anywhere. looks like oil is just sitting in one spot. maybe 1 square foot. no sign of flowing or drips from anywhere. i'll just have to talk to previous owner.

What color is the oil, is it dark or more of a clear type oil, I would suggest the a/c oil is getting in some where.
