Default Third to second downshift issue

Similar to Black R's issue a couple years ago ( https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1433747 ), except that mine is all the time - hot or cold doesn't matter. Not moving, it will cycle through fine, upshifts are all smooth as silk. Downshifts are all fine except for 3rd->2nd. It just won't go into gear at all 99% of the time, with the exception of every once in awhile where it feels like it just barely goes in. Rev matching, double clutching, and GM Synchromesh have all not changed a thing.

Any thoughts? Bent fork or clearances or something? Trans has to come out to replace the main seal soon so I am trying to figure out what needs to be done to fix it while it's out.

Thanks!

I have the same problem, but I can get into 2nd if I put it slightly into 1st then back down. I was suggested it to be a mount/bracket problem. I owner I bought the car from said the rear mount needed replacing, but I never did.

Sometimes you must hate that ****. You can feel when it's going to be a bitch and you can smash it extra hard. Works for 1 month.

yeah, the same thing will work for me.. odd that it would be a mount.. this happens at low torque load and there isn't much engine twisting going on..

anyone have a suggestion on where to send the trans out to? King? Elsewhere?

I am not planning to try and split it and figure this out.

Yeah I had a busted M.M. and it does affect the shifting and loading did not seem to make a difference. But if it's that bad it may be a bent fork or something.
FYI, had KING rebuild and I think they replaced 3rd fork and replaced all mounts with Mugens and WOW! Better than new.

Doubt its a fork since it upshifts fine. More than likely the hub/slider. Feel free to send it to me. Can upgrade while we're in there if you want to.

Who did the work for you if I may ask? I have the same problem right now. The transmission is tough when it is cold but once the temperature is at operating conditions, it gets easier.
