Re: Stolen - Boston
Dont know if lojack has a new system but, the only way theyll find it in the past is if a police vehicle has the lojack reciever and even then the cop car has to drive close enough to the vehicle to activate the computer in the cop car. to bad on star is only on gm. thats a true gps theft system. will find the car down to 10ft. then they call the police and tell them exactly where its at.

Re: Stolen - Boston
No word yet. In the 25 years the Sgt has been with my police force, he's never had a stolen car with lojack. I was his first.
If the "lojack" police car has to be within a certain range of the lojack transmitter, I'm f'd. Cuz that car is no longer in my town.
My neighbor (she) said they were 3 huge guys wearing hoods, at 2:30 am. She did the right thing by calling the cops. She did yell at them "I see you!!" But they were off and running.

Re: Stolen - Boston
Just spoke with my neighbor again. She said all her windows were open, it was dead quiet at 2:30am and there was not even a chirp from the alarm. Can a pro disable the alarm without it ever sounding?
She said there were 3 loudish "metal on asphalt" noises. That's it.

Re: Stolen - Boston
They were definitely ready. Did you have a hoodpin switch? Backup battery?
Integra doors are easy to open without triggering the "Door Open" sensor. They could have gotten in, popped the hood softly and disconnected the battery without triggering any standard alarm zones.

Re: Stolen - Boston
no pins. no back up battery. I used to chain it to a tree. My neighbors thought I was nuts. They don't think I'm so nuts anymore.
They were ready. The driveway is wide enough for tandem parking. We had a ton of construction debris on one side of the driveway until just yesterday. The ITR was in front of my other 2 cars on the other side. They did a number of parallel parking maneouvers to get the car backed out to the newly cleaned out side of the driveway.
My other thought is that one of the construction guys either turned off the alarm (they've been in and out of the house), or alerted his friends to the car.

Re: Stolen - Boston
the contrsuction guys shut off the alarm while going in and out....checked it one night and it was open...(you didnt know) and came back to work the next day....worked and made sure it was open when they left again, and came back later that night to take it knowing they had shut the alarm off....
^ thats my theory......any young'ns working on that construction crew that would know the value of her? dont accuse them, but find out some info...****, atleast its a place to start...

Damn. What part of Boston/suburb?
I'll keep my eyes out.
If it hasn't been parted, take a drive down to Castle Island some night. That or anywhere in Revere. Those are the too most likely places you'll find it.

I know of a 97 R that jow jack worked on and was recovered fairly quickly. I hope yours is found or has already been found and you havnt been notified yet.
Best of luck.
Note to everyone: shoot to kill if you feel threatened, or shoot to disable the vehicle or disable theives vehicle. do what it takes to have them caught and save YOUR property

Re: Stolen - Boston
Sorry to hear about another 97 going missing.
Lost mine (also a 97) around Oct 10th of 05, from in front of my appartment building, alarm and all ... turned up 3 days later completely stripped.

also, the GM onstar quote is spot on. there is almost zero theft of the newer corvettes due to this and i KNOW thieves would love to grab those 6 piston calipers and 505hp LS7 motors. would be easy to sell to the domestic performance crowd. oregon was talking about 18months of flat time per car theft. i'm not sure if it passed but i hope so. your standard thief could rack up the years pretty fast at 18 months per car.
i personally can't figure out why ITR's are still such theft targets. they are the most heavily guarded, have the most obsessive owners and might get you killed trying to steal. an rsx-s has a k20 that's in some ways easier to push off since anyone who sees b18c5 will wonder where it came from. i know the ITR 5 lug finds its way onto a lot of civics but man, that's a LOT of risk for that extra $1000 part
