Re: To Sell the R for S2K?? (00-ITR-373)
Troy~
For what it is worth, here are my thoughts! I got to drive a S2K a few weeks ago while at home. Talk about an amazing car! The steering response is what impressed me most. As fast as you could think turnign the wheel the car was doing it. Amazing! The ergonomics were great as well. The only draw backs I really didn't like with the car were the lack of carrying capacity(not too big a concern considering your HB) and that stupid digital gauge(barf!). Outside of that, I loved it! It would make a great summer/garage kept car. While the aftermarket hasn't supported the car to the fullest yet, it is hard to tell what will be coming out. The key would be if Honda releases a rumored 2.1-2.2L version with VTECi(I would assume).
I know you love your R and have been debating what to do with it. The HB has offered you an outlet for the "boost quest" you've had as of late. What can I say other than I glad it isn't me having to choose! Just think long an hard about it. Go test-drive a S2K. Maybe that will help you out.
For the record, the car I drove was being sold by the owner! Know why.....he wanted a Type R!

Re: To Sell the R for S2K?? (RStoR)
So....would this owner like to swap...just kidding, I can get a new one cheaper. Thanks for the advice..I guess I'll continue to pay off the Type R as opposed to modding her, until I figure out what I want to do, which is still the only reason it's not modded right now. I was going to order zeal b6's this month, but I'll put all mods on hold for now. I've never driven one yet, only ridden in one, and yes the steering did seem quite amazing...I'll just wait and see what Honda does with the S2. Yeah, I don't like that tach too much, oh well. I would assume that if Honda ups the displacement, then companies such as spoon and toda would need to design new stuff for it again. Which would really slow the decision down...we'll see. Thanks for the help.

Seriously though, go test drive one. You'll love it, but IMO ITR is a classic and you CAN NOT ever buy a brand new ITR anymore. S2K can wait for a few more years.

I'm witing for an R S2ooo!
Till then, my car is to nice to trade!
In addition there is just something that I like about my R call is soul or whatever, but things such as the digital dash and power delivery that with the S makes me feel like its a bit more of a game and less R-EAL.
Anyone else like that?

Black R - Alright, how about this Deal: If and when Toda makes Cams, Pistons, and the same goodies they make for the R, then I'll consider getting the S2K!
Maybe Honda will sell me one of those for $28K new also.

$28k new? You're surely leaving out taxes which will push it over the $30k mark... I guess working for Honda has it's perks, huh?
I say go ahead and do a final drive install if you want to mod... No possible negative repurcussions on the engine - just a lot more pulling than stock...

Re: To Sell the R for S2K?? (Black R)
Heres one for under $25,000
But heres the thing. It should tell you something that a 2 year old ITR is selling for close to 100% of what it cost new, and a S2000 is selling for around 50% of what it cost new.

I'm not disagreeing that the S2K might not be
better in stock trim than an R in stock trim,
however your driving impression might have
been influenced by the addition of sound deadening
which the type R has NONE of!
Of course you can hear it more. All the opinions here
are comparing stock S2's to modded R's, well what
if we assume it's a modded S2 with the same Toda parts
you NA boyzz put in you R's? Granted this assumed
that Toda will in fact step up and put out parts
for the S2.

Honestly, if you get a S2k, gut out parts and drop the weight down to 2400-2450lbs. You'll spank just about any modded ITR then some. 10:1 power-to-weight ratio sounds mighty good!

Just today I was hanging out with my friend (driving go-karts.. ) who sold me his R way back so he could buy an S2K... he wanted to buy the R back again today. He says the R is much, much more fun to drive...

I wish. 2000 S2Ks can now be had for about $28k, 2001s for ~$30k. This is a hell of a lot more than a 50% residual. Original MSRP was just under $33k.
If I did buy an S2000, I would go for a 2002 model, which will have a glass rear window (original was plastic and was prone to fade), an improved transmission, and a few cosmetic improvements. Their MSRP increased only $100 from last year. These cars are now readily available for MSRP (and have been for over a year with a bit of legwork).
