Running OBD1 GSR ecu for an OBD2 ITR motor!!! help!
Sup guys, i already did a search and couldnt really find what i wanted....
basically, i went ahead and bit the bullet and bought a legit salvaged ITR motor with low miles and i'm swapping the longblock into my GSR...
i will be using an OBD1 gsr ecu, wiring harness, injectors, and distributor to plug into the OBD2 B18c5
all i want to know is: will i run into any problems being that the b18c5 has a different fuel map than the OEM gsr motor? i know hypothetically i will be "safe" because they all use OEM 240cc saturated injectors, and the rev limiter will be lower on the gsr, but can anybody see any long-term bad effects on my new motor?
thanks in advance, any help will be appreciated!

And why didn't you just buy the ITR ECU along with the motor?

Yeah you're in the wrong forum.
You've got it backwards though, you've got a motor that has higher compression and needs more fuel, and you're throwing on a GSR ECU that's made for a lower compression. Timing and fuel won't be the same.
All in all, though, I would guess the GSR's ECU is conservative enough to not cause any problems...
Get a new ECU or run Hondata/Uberdata and tune it. You're throwing away power by using the GSR one.

Re: Running OBD1 GSR ecu for an OBD2 ITR motor!!! help! (Chris F)
I do have first hand experience on this one!
I let me buddy use my ecu to see how it would run in his crvtec (before we got hondata) and I was using his gsr ecu...
talk about SLOW
I didnt get any detonation or hesitation, but it was just alot slower

I will trade you my p73 (obd2b itr ecu) for your p72 (obd1 gsr ecu), as I am looking for one.
Please let me know.

ok well thanks for the input, and i figured the ITR guru's would have SOME knowledge as far as fuel mapping/base on the OEM motors...that's why i posted here, but thanks for shoo-ing me off just because i asked a valid question in a busy forum...
i do plan on keeping the conservative tune of the OEM GSR ecu UNTIL i get the cash to run Hondata s100/200...
anyways, i will be running this ecu for about 1-2 months max, and i'm not hot-rodding the motor any time soon either, but thanks again for the input Chris F and dnatrance
