Default tire balancing "on-car"

I was at the tire shop today getting a set of A032's. The technician mentioned something about some other guy that came in earlier w/ a blown tire. He said the guy had tried to balance the tire by running the tire on the axle. I honestly have no idea what he was talking about but it was still funny. Anybody else heard of "on-car" balancing??? I'd like to know so maybe next time I can be that idiot... kidding ...

Don't think it's done on the car, but there is something called 'force balancing'. The tire/wheel combination is actually rolled on a roller as it spins. This takes into account tire belts and wheel run-out and the result is read out in pounds of force. Honda has a limit of 10lbs for thier specs. 5 pounds is about as close to perfect as it gets.
