Default p1166 Error Code

While replacing the clutch in my RSX S, we broke the primary O2 sensor. I drove it for a while until a new one arrived.

We put in the new sensor, reset the ECU, and I'm still getting the p1166 code. We checked the wiring and everything looks good. (Note: without the 02 sensor in, the motor bogged down. With the new sensor in, the engine does not bog down.) The check engine light doesn't seem to come on immediately. Only after driving for about 5 minutes or so.

From searching, it looks like a pretty straightforward deal - either the O2 sensor is working (all wires plugged in and it didn't get broken in transit), or it's not working. Is this your take? Any other troubleshooting we should be doing?

I tried to check resistence this weekend, but it was more difficult than I thought.

Also, it's showing 1166 and 1167. There didn't seem to be a specific order required for trouble shooting, so I went after the 1167 first, which seemed easier to troubleshoot.

The helms says to disconnect the A31p connector and ground 6 and 16 to the body. I used some speaker wire on the "connector" side of the A31p female connector. The helms shows making the ground connections on the "Wire side of the female connector" but I couldn't get my speaker wire to "catch" on the wire side. Make sense? Does it matter which side of the connector you ground? Is there a trick to this?

As for checking resistence at the sensor, I disconnected the 4p AF and checked for continuity at the "connector" side of the female connector. Am I doing this wrong?

Here's a visual to go along with this question. Has anyone followed the Helms troubleshooting (successfully) for 1166 and 1167?
