Re: Ogura or OS Giken Clutch ? (PrjctDC2-R)
i just put them on today, pedal is perfect, lighter than TODA or EXEDY or SPOON, the only anoying thing is the bearing when you cluth in. Clutch seems to catch very good, although i havent abuse it.

Re: Ogura or OS Giken Clutch ? (DC2#309)
I have had the OS twin plate in my Civic for some time now, and I love it. It does take some getting used to, but you never have to worry about slip, or the thing blowing up.
When I first installed it, it was really shuddery on down shifts, but with stiffer engine mounts it is much better. Also, you must match the revs well on the downshifts.
I find that the take up is quite smooth, better than most puck type clutches. You can slip the thing off the line to avoid wheelspin, and it will still grab when you want it to.
Flat shifting with the Motec gear change ignition cut is awesome!
You will learn to just say "oh thanks" when some Guru tells you your clutch/gearbox/release bearing are fucked.
The price with release bearing is 141800 yen for the TS2A and 136800 yen for the TS2AS (low pressure 690Kgf/m)

How chattery is that twin plate? Sound wicked! I'm changing my clutch soon and going with a Toda flywheel and STi pressure plate with stock disc for now. I don't want something TOO aggressive since unlike my Type R, my WRX trans isn't the strongest thing in the universe.

Yeah, the clutch is quite noisy. We put an OS twin plate in a WRX and it is quieter than the Civic. The WRX has blown the box 4 times now (I think, maybee more) and it has custom, straight cut, dog engagement gears.
Whatever you spend on your engine, save twice as mutch for the gearbox.

Kengs, let me know if you need a super single. I'll order one and send it to my friends house in Harajuku. You can pick it up at TAS 2002 (you are going this time aren't you? )
The Super Single is 99,800 with the release bearing.

Re: Ogura or OS Giken Clutch ? (R3dL1n3)
wow old thread, but now i have some updated info.
i drove a car with the ATS carbon fiber on a na setup. all i gotta say is make sure you get the higher rated pressure plate otherwise it will slip when shifting gears fast.
on the os giken twin disc, i wouldn't put it on any car that didn't have atleast 400 whp. the assembly is a relatively heavy, but extremely well built. the clutch discs and friction materials look exactly the same as the discs used in the twin disc tilton, which is a good thing. it's too bad that i haven't been able to actually drive this clutch for myself, since its brand new and for sale.
another nice clutch that i can comment on is the tilton twin disc. it comes with a cromoly flywheel and the entire assembly weighs about 14 lbs. it also required very little material removal by the machine shop to achieve balance. i haven't been able to drive on this one yet either, but i will soon. you could probably run this on an na motor, but it be overkill since its rated for about 700 lbs of torque. tilton does however sell a single disc verison, but the price is only about $100 cheaper.
