Default Need some CEL and engine help please!

So the car is sputtering...sounded/felt like a missfire. So I got the CEL # of 71 (does that make sense?) and pulled out the plug wires to find water in one of the plug holes....What is my best course of action to get rid of the water? It has been wet here lately and my plastic plug wire cover has been off. So I assume that is how it got in there. Any help/comments/whatever would be great! Thanks guys.

Would it happen to be cylinder number 1? The reason I ask, is a code 71 is a cylinder 1 misfire code. As for the water, I have never run into that problem, but I have heard of people doing a couple of different things. Some took the plug out, and disconnected the coil wire. They than spun the motor and the water came out of the plug hole. As for how the water got in there, I do not see how it could have gotten in there from the spark plug cover being off. To do so, you would have had to have had both a loose wire, and a loose plug. Do you have a CAI? That could have been the offender.

Code 71 is Cylinder 1 Misfire or a Random Misfire a condition is present that is creating a cylinder misfire. It's misfiring from the water.

As for the water that could be from your coolant. Has your car been overheating?

Hey thanks for the help guys! It is in the #1 cylinder. It is water only though, not coolant. I did wash the engine bay about a week ago, but it just started happening last night. The car has not been overheating in the limited time that I was driving it.
Is it o.k. to pull the plugs out and clean them up? I just pulled the wires for now to air out the holes a bit. Thanks again.

Took another look....could it be one of the valve cover gaskets leaking(the ones around the plug holes)? Or a bad wire? I cleaned it all out...ran good for about 15 minutes then the same thing....took it apart again and there was moisture in the wire. Anyonre else have thoughts? Thanks.
