Default Mobil oil filter for ITR?

Does mobil make an oil filter for the type r? If so, is it better than the stock type r filter?

Yes, Mobil does make a Mobil 1 filter for the Type R. The filter number is M1-104 (the same one recommended for all Integra engines). Check out the following web site that has an analysis of this filter and several others.

Hahaha... DOHC, you're really lucky to have access to them. Cheap too! For the less fortunate ones like us, we have to use Mobile 1.

Oh, I'm in Canada... I can't even get Mobile 1 filters. Damn... Gonna get my Fram I guess...

Thanks... It'd be funny when I pass through customs though. 10 filters in my luggage. LOL passing through xrays, they'll think it's a big bomb I made!

It looks like stp or bosche filters is the way to go to me.
I can't believe honda filters suck. I want to see more research.

Does anyone use the Fram X2? Isn't it all pretty much preference when it comes to this? I mean, as long as your using a reliable, durable oil (pref synth in our cases I would assume) and a long life oil filter (I use Fram X2) isn't it all pretty much the same? If not, please tell me in a non-biased, technical way, why I shouldn't use a Fram X2 with Castrol Synth...

You shouldn't use castrol Synthesic cause it is not true synnthetic. I will keep looking for that oil article I read. Seems like it was an old car and driver or motortrend

This is why honda oil filters suck and why you shouldn't use fram: http://ntpog.server101.com/reviews/f.../filters.shtml

Basically fram uses a plastic bypass valve with no seal, and in this study, after playing with it, the bypass valve stuck open!!! It also has "fuzzy" filtering material. Honda filters are even fuzzier.

That site is really good, thanks! Unfortunately there is nothing RE: the Fram X2. This is a new generation Fram Filter. Anyone have a more recent study on this one? Thanks again though.

Go to http://www.framx2.com/ for information. (According to Fram though unfortunately).

looks like I won't be going to the Acura dealer for a filter anymore.

Does anybody know where I can get a Bosch or Mobil 1 filter - they don't have them at Pep Boys...
I get my bosch filter from pep boys or autozone.

seems to me the best of the best is the Toyo Roki filter that orginally came with our Rs...

I still have mine as a (dirty) keepsake....

BTW, I noticed this difference the 1st time I did the oil change on the car....the can of the filter was noticeably larger....

hrmmmm......time to stock up the next time I'm in HK.....

Whatever happened to the scare of Mobil1 filters grenading?

I thought there were a few isolated cases on this board...
