Lowering my Type R.
Hey guys, I have a ITR 99 model. Would i want a lowered look without spending too much $. would the stock socks be able to handle lowered springs (King SPrings) . I'm planning to get castor and camber kits to correct them too. I think the stock ITR shocks are pretty stiff from the factory, so they should be able to handle it right?
THanks guys!

your gonna get alot of posts saying dont be cheap buy the shocks at the same time
and there right you bought this car for a reason because its top notch and deserves to be treated that way
do it right the first time and save your stock shocks, install aftermarket shocks at the same time as the springs, and like you asked, no the stock shocks wont last long with lowering springs, they werent designed to be that low, they dont have enough travel, theres to much pressure, they will blow soon after install of the lowering springs
not only will you have better handling, better ride, better adjustablity
but you will have a much easier instalation, just take off the stock spring/shock assembly and reinstall the new aftermarkte spring/shock assembly
but thats just my opinion do what you want

makes a lot of sense what you said and I would have to agree. just dont jump into some coilovers and slam the car

by the time he has someone custom fab those extender pieces, hes gonna almost spend as much as he whould just buying some aftermarkt shocks, and he whould have spent alot more time, and have alot more downtime waiting for these to be fabbed up
again its smarter and easier just to get aftermarket shocks
and if this is a money issue, just save your money a little longer and do it right the first time

Buy a set of Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs. they lower the car 25mm front/rear and are designed to be used with the stock shocks. I know quite a few people that have used them and their cars are only slightly stiffer than stock and they've had no adverse effects on their shocks to date. You can always upgrade the shocks at a later date if you find your standard ones are getting tired.

Mugen 5way adjustable lowdowns... is there a better compromise between street/track/ride height??

How many posts have you made looking for a used r1 exhaust/slipon? Just buy a brand new one and stop being cheap! Better yet, do it right and get a full titanium akra along with a few hours on the dyno to tune it right with a power commander or factory pro.
