Integra Type R caliper differences
Does anyone know if there are any differences between the ITR 97 calipers and the 98+ calipers? Reason I am asking is because I am converting my hub-over-rotor setup to rotor-over-hub using ITR parts. I need calipers using 23T brackets. The DIY I'm following says to use 98+ ITR calipers only, but I found a great deal on 97 ITR ones. Are there any differences? Thanks.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this is only about the FRONT calipers. I'm not changing my rear calipers at all, as they are already Rotor-over-hub.

On my POS 1992 accord, the hub is pressed onto the rotor. So changing the rotor means pressing off the hub, replacing rotor, and pressing hub back on. I'm converting to rotor-over-hub, where the rotor lies on top of the hub. So I just loosen the rotor screws and pop it off. I'm also upgrading to 11.2" rotors, and ITr calipers. I just need to know if there's any difference between 1997 ITR calipers and 1998-2001 ITR calipers? Because the DIY i'm using says to use 98+ ITR calipers only.
What I learned recently is that the 1997 bolt pattern on the caliper, is different from every other year ITR. So keep that in mind when you do your swap.
As far as rotors, it's the same every year and also the 96' to 98' Acura RL will fit.

Thank you.

The calipers stamped 23T do NOT work on my 97 ITR. The bracket is off by 1/16th of an inch and when mounted to the spindle the bracket rubs on the rotor, 25T is the correct bracket at least for 1997 if that helps any. I was just sent a caliper that apparently came with the wrong bracket...
Brackets with the 23T stamping are non-ITR and 94-96 VTEC prelude. My 96 spec ITR had them before I converted to 98 spec 5 lug (basically a GSR braking system as already stated above). When I ordered everything, my new front calipers came with the 23T bracket, which when bolted up did not position the calipers far enough from the rotor. I ended up getting the dealer to order another set to compare, which came with the correct 25T brackets. All parts ordered where of 01 spec.
So 97-01 ITR use the 25T bracket. If you are needing 23T, just get LS brackets.

Are you sure? The calipers are listed as 23T for the 98+ ITR. And Koala states that 25T was the correct caliper for his 1997.
I believe you mean to say that GSR brakes use 25T brackets, and the 98+ ITR uses 23T.

This doesn't even make sense, as you are saying the 97 USDM ITR uses a GSR caliper bracket, which we all know that only the 95.5 - 97 JDM spec used.
The ITR 97-01 front brackets are all 25T. 100% sure of this. Check this thread I finished up earlier this year.

To answer your question from earlier, 97-01 ITR front calipers are the same. 97 rear caliper brackets have a different bolt pattern than 98-01, so you need to determine which year rear trailing arm your going to be using.

I got the link you pm'ed me and they are 98 spec calipers. But they should have 25T brackets originally. The different brackets are used to accomadate thicker rotors. So it really depends on what thickness rotor you intend to use as to what bracket you need. All 94-01 Integra knuckles are the same, though.
Edit: So I would assume that they are including 23T brackets to be used with a thinner rotor.
The logic I was trying to get across last night was that since KOALA said the 25T were on his 97, and I said I have 01 ITR calipers with a 25T bracket, then one must assume since the dc2 knuckles are all the same that one must use 25T brackets to run an ITR caliper WITH an ITR rotor. Thinner rotors will require the 23T.
96 spec ITR calipers will be stamped 17CL14VN, while 98 spec and USDM ITR calipers will be stamped 17CL15VN.
