How much is your type R insured for?
Wondering if anyone has a company that has written any of those policies on their type-r? I know it is a numbered limited prod vehicle so some insurance companies will write the policy. Not sure how many years old the car has to be to have a collectible badge on it. Anychance someone has their car actually insured for what the market value is on these cars and not the KBB/NADA value?
Pls advise as I am looking into this asap.

I have Hagarty as well. I think they have an online quick quote system. It'll give you an idea of what you're looking at. I have three cars insured with them and I have no complaints. Cheers

Hagerty/Grundy/Specialty car insurances will go by way of an agreed upon value. Typically that entails getting an appraiser to go through the car and to make a recommendation to the insurance company (by way of paperwork). For a Type R, the specialty insurance companies will usually have information on the rareness of the car as well.
I went through Grundy insurance and pay about $600-$700/ year for a $28K agreed policy. But you can't drive the car everyday in order to get this. there are stipulations that you must agree to follow in order to get the green light on these policies.

The best way to get the vehicle insured for "what it's worth" is to get the vehicle professionally appraised. Just because you purchased a vehicle for a certain price does not mean that it is worth that much. You may have overpaid... or paid less than book value, but what is certain is that insurance companies use either blue book or black book values. I know for a fact that StateFarm, Allstate and Farmers will insure a "classic" , "antique" or "unique" vehicle if you have it appraised and provide pictures of the vehicle. Then there are the stipulations, like driving it less than the mileage they require to insure it, registered as the classification of vehicle that it is, etc. Call your insurance provider to see if they offer that.

I will be paying 470 for 12 months at an agreed value of 27k. Of course, some restrictions such as garage needed (does anyone even park an R outside?) and cannot be used for daily commuting. I'm early 30s, no points or anything like that.

DUDE.... You need to bump that agreed value, big time. Especially with the 58k mile '97 already at $40k on BringATrailer.com, If your R is OEM all legit original it's worth a bit more than $27k.
Im just over $400 a month. I think it's like $417.
You should also check out itrca.com. Sending you a PM

i just talked to my insurance company (AAA) and they said in a total loss situation they go off what the market is asking for type rs for sale
he said they would look up all the integra type r for sale ads across whatever website and apply value based on what others are selling for or asking
and thats the regular insurance without changing it to collector status
so AAA of southern california

Do you guys only insure your ITR by itself or do you insure all your car with the same car insurance?
I have 3 cars under progressive right now and I'm in the middle of looking for a new car insurance. But I also have to search for insurance for my ITR which hasn't been insured yet.

They require you to have another vehicle, they dont care who insures it.
