HID question
I am about to get a philips 4300K..
what do i do when the bulb burns out?
how long do they usually last?
is it possible to get different K's? like 6000K or 8000K or 9000K bulbs for replacements?

Well you just replace the bulbs when they burn out like halogen bulbs.
They will last roughly 4000 hours. Which is a long time, and will last 2-3x longer than halogens.
Not sure about replacing with a different K bulb, but I'm sure it will only take 4300K of any brand replacement.

9006 DSS bulbs from Trevor are $125 + S&H for 4300K (6000K individual bulbs not available when I bought one b/c of restrictions set forth by Phillips).
I had to buy one when I got into an accident and busted one of the bulbs.

and as far as going up in the K's, if you start with 4300K, you will regret going up in the K's very much.. just going from 4300 to 6000, you lose 25% or more.. and the higher the K's the more the light loss.. now, if you started with a 6000K ricer kit, and UPGRADED to 4300K, you'd fall in love immediately..
So a higher k rating you have less light? I thought it would be the other way around.
ive read a lot of info..
4300K - 3200 lumens
those philips Ultinon's that are rated 6000K are really 5800K and they put out 2400 lumens.. so going to 6000K means less than that.. then up and up.. i think once you get up to around 8000 and 9000K you wont be any brighter than the silverstar conversion.. but you will be paying $600 for it.. how sad..
