Help!
Im replacing my timing belt on my 2000 ITR. I couldn't break the tensioner bolt loose(it hasn't ever been touched untill now.I broke 3 sockets, then tried a chizzle and now the head on the bolt is messed up. Any advice?
you used a chisel on it?! what for?
any chance you can get some vicegrips on it and then use a pipe or something to give better torque/leverage? how did you break 3 sockets?
otherwise, the only thing I can think to do is to maybe drill a hole in it and use a screw extractor..
i assume you soaked it in PB blast(or equivalent) after you initially had trouble removing it?
it's not reverse threaded or locked in some way is it? i can't remember offhand..

Bolt extractor. Or at least get an impact socket so you stop breaking them.

Theres no way to get an ipmact on that without droping the motor.
That's why I think he has the wrong bolt because you cant really get a chisel on it either. Not that chisels turn bolts anyway lol..

You did remove the p/s belt from the p/s pulley right? Or at least, lowered that part? If not, it's very hard to get anything on that bolt. I hadve busted my hand countless times w/that bolt. I think it always hit the mount or something, ha.

air chisels are 'very' effective when removing stubborn crank pulley bolts..
