Engine #
my dealer replace my engine block due to a defective bearing
the question is how can i check did they really change my engine block?
as everyone knwo, the engine # is engrave on the block
i forgot to record it down before i take it to service (big mistake
)
so how can i trace it now?
will that engine # have any relationship with my VIN#?
or is there any other way to check except "just trust ur dealer"?
thx!

The number on the front of your original motor should have matched your S/N. Simular to the hood, fenders, etc.
Check out the green placard on the front of the motor to see if it is blank (it should not have you S/N on it).

actually the green placard is the manual transmision #
the owners manuel said that
the engine # is actually the # engrave on the long block (also said in the owner's manuel)

There is two green paluqes, the one on the tranny which is visible form looking into the engine bay and another one on the block, under the exhaust manifold. Which is not visible form just looking into the engine bay. You probaly have to go under the car and remove the plastic guard to see it, or use a small mirror on a stick and angle it under the exhaust manifold. If its there you'll see the green paque if not you'll see a section of smooth bare metal with two holes on either sides.
*edit* when i purchased my ITR block from acura it came with no new plaque, if yours is there maybe they transferred it to the new one???

i think u r right, but as u said, they may just unscrew the plaque and replace it, can't justisfy anything
but i can the # that engrave on the engine block right beside the transmision green plaque can do more justicfication
anyone know how to find that # or is there any relationship between the VIN and that engrave #?
thx everyone!

If the dealership replaced your block, The block number B18C5 ******* should have orange paint all over it. This means that the block is a replacement.
The other guys are correct to say that if they took off the green VIN placard, the dealership can not put it back on, becuase Honda does not sell those break away rivets.

damn, my B18C5******* don't have any orange paint on it...
if they just replace my block, they don't need to take the green VIN placard, so i guess it is not much of a "proof"?
on the invoice it said "replace short block" is it a good enough evidence?

there is a number that is on your block. It is right above the oil pan on the ride front side of the block. Kinda behind the header. If it isent there, you should see the holes were it is supposed to be..
