Does Type-R have a LSD?
I believe it was in 1997 that the Type-R was white? As you may have guessed by my name, I'm not a Honda person (other than tinkering with my GF's 94 Civ EX coupe). I thought the Type-Rs had a LSD. Am I correct? This A-hole in my apartment has a white "Type-R" (not quite sure, but he has the badges), and is ALWAYS doing burnouts . Funny thing is, they are single wheel burnouts. Little help for a non- Honda guy. thanks

Sounds like your neighbor is not only inconsiderate, but also a poser. How many lugnuts on his wheels? I would be willing to bet there are only four. Type-R's have 5 lug wheels. He probably does not even have a GSR; he probably has an LS with a bunch of "R" stickers and badges.

other things to look for (visually) to confirm if its an ITR
-5 lug wheels
-8200 rpm redline
-tach that goes to 10k
-no sunroof
of course there are others things u can look at if u can get a glimpse of the motor

Re: Does Type-R have a LSD? (Stock R)
I got a good look today. He DOES have 5 lug hubs, and the wheels are not LS wheels. They are, however, very close in design to LS rims. What type of LSD do type-Rs have? Please don't take any offense to this, but, I hope they are weak. I'm sick of this a-hole doing these 30ft long burnouts everyday. Kinda hoping he blows something up. I know spinning one wheel that much is not condusive to tranny health.

LSD is a torsen (Torque-sensing) type Helical-Gear.

and please don't spread misinformation to the VW crowd about ITR's, there is enough of that already

Thanks for the info!!! Don't worry , I'm not spreading any info or anything like that. I'm not one of those types that likes to start "car wars". I was just curious cause I thought Rs had LSDs. And for the other guy who asked, I know cause I see him do it all the time. I hear that intake growl a few times, look out the window, then he peels out. Today is the first time in a WHILE he hasn't. But the day isnt over yet. And yes, spinning one wheel will grenade the diff. It's almost as detrimental as wheel hop. I'm a VW guy, I know all about wheel hop
