I live in Naperville, so it's possible we've blown past each other once or twice. Seems like there are several PY ITRs in the Naperville vicinity too.
I bought the R brand new from Ed Napleton Acura in Elmhurst back in September of 1997.

Yes we do. I got a lot of buddies wit type R's so yes we got to chill one day. I'm hoping early spring we can call an ITR only meeting. I hope we can get 10+ type-Rs to come out.
I don't see many PY Type-R's around Naperville or Wheaton. Most of the time I see white and black. At the last Honda-tech meet @hooters we had 7 Type-Rs show up (2 CW (both 97) and all the rest were black (all 2000 I think). Cool to see an original owner just got my R like 6 months ago and I’ve been running it hard. But R1zen yea we got to chill.

Re: a(count)ing for the 97 type R's (Lip)
Number #50 is in great condition and still stock. I bought this last week from Wilmington, NC with 24,500 miles and it might have a stone chip or door ding (haven't found one yet though). I'm really psyched. This is my second R and I plan on keeping it 'till I'm old and grey.

Re: a(count)ing for the 97 type R's (BallHawk3)
For 97 the general consensus is 480, 318 to th US, and 162 to Canada.
I wish I could be added to the list, I don't know what number I am, but whatever it is, it's deffinately alive.
It's a shame how fast these numbers are changing as of late.

#85 purchased in Georgia and housed in NoVa (Northern Virginia) found yesterday stripped to the frame. RIP.
Sorry to sidetrack a little, but in trying to get a fair insurance settlement for my 97 Type R #85 I would appreciate anyone who sold or purchased a 97 in the past year to e-mail me info about price and mileage: haden at cstone.net.
Thanks.

Re: a(count)ing for the 97 type R's (Lip)
Lip, how about a seperate column for those of us that have no numbers, but have an R to contribute to the overall count? It might help us get closer to the actual, physical number of 97's out there.

Re: a(count)ing for the 97 type R's (hondahans)
actually i think we found more then i expected on this site alone. Not bad at all but you can see lots are gone. I'm sure there must be a way to trace vin number to original owner and or dealer and find out that way. Thats the way i would have done it
