Default Cleaning O2 sensor?

I have been having problems with the CEL after i put in exhaust and its CEL one.

i have tried resetting the ecu but comes on a week later.

I am just seeing if anyone has tried cleaning there O2 sensor, rather then buying a new one. thanks

are you kidding.
if you need new 02 sensor (primary or secondary) replace it. having bad sensor can result to running rich or lean. DONT BE CHEAP.

There's no such thing as "brake fluid cleaner" anyway you jack ***, quit being a bitch, it's a legit question.

I like when people like you try and act all smart and spurt out some dumb *** **** like "use brake fluid cleaner"... So what are you supposed to do, drain your brake fluid, run it through a carbonized filter numerous times with a heavy duty cleaning additive, and put it back in your BMC? Bleed them and go on your marry way?

Morty, I haven't tried it but I guess you can give it a shot to see if it'll make your CEL go away, and if it does then it'll be fine. If not, just buy a new one. Won't hurt to try.

FWIW, I'll be trying it with Brake Cleaner...

I have an oil consumption issue that has covered my secondary. It's throwing a CEL. Once the new shortblock goes in, I'm going to try cleaning it off a bit. First I'll try just wiping the soot off, but if that doesn't work, I'll go to a cleaner fluid method.

cleaning it with brake cleaner may work for a little while (see a few months at best) but the CEL will return.
Doing this with a primary is not a good move since the ECU runs the engine based on the signal from that O2.
Replace the O2 and be done with it.

Dave_B: In the secondary O2 location, drop in an O2 simulator and you'll never have this problem again.

That would be my solution is the secondary went completely. I know what my problem is though, the bung is covered in oil. Once I get it cleaned off, it should be ok.

But, if not... I'll just put in a simulator and call it a day.

If your CEL is telling you its #1, its telling you something is wrong with it. 02 sensors either work or do not work. Why not just replace it?

Cory, Ive used brake fluid cleaner and works well with 02 sensors.

I heard of people dipping there 02 sensor in seafoam. I have no experience with this though.
