so i tried the fuel cap again and tightened it. when i turned the key the CEL comes on for a second, then off for like 1/2 a sec and then back on again. does this mean that its fixed? how do you reset the CEL so it wont come on after.

I'm glad this topic came up - saved me the trouble of creating my own.

My itr powered hatch was backed into on the left side right at the gas filler door by a less than vigilant driver. The code 90 came up and has been annoying me ever since. I'm guessing that it compromised the filler arm that goes to the tank - or the seal..... The code seems to come and go though - perhaps due to the heat and cold causing the seal to work better at times.

****.....

It may be all in my head, but the car seems to run richer with the cel on (code 90).....

Thanx for the inputs. I'll just go ahead and get a new cap and reset the ecu. most likely oem cap. any idea on the price?

I just grabbed 3 gas caps from the wreckers with a bunch of other little things. They charged me $20

fixing the gas cap and driving 3 consecutive drive cycles will clear the code and turn off the mil.... if u reset the ecm it resets your driving habits.fuel trims.( dosent mean its bad) could even save more gas.!
