Depending on the motor setup i.e. cam profile, compression ratio, general flow etc.

99% of the time a 1.8L setup with itr cams will stop making positive power after 8500 rpms. I.E. a revlimit of 9,000 rpms would be the highest you would need to set your revlimit.

There is no reason to be taking a motor past 9,000 rpms which does not produce power over 9,000 rpms. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Dont think rev limiter works in a downshift like this. or are you meaning something else?

This guy already said his friend mis-shift to 3rd instead of 5th at 9k.. It might sounds dumb, but this is why i recommand most people get the mugen or spoon shift linkage bushing.

mis shift can still happens, but much less chance and its extememly useful during track days.

Exactly. A rev limiter cannot prevent a mechanical over-rev (i.e. mis-shift).

Rebuilding the block and then will sell it off.

The only thing we salvaged from the head is the ITR cams, Toda Valve spring.

Will be buying a ported B16A head from a friend and then mating it to a B20B

I think your friend should consider purchasing a car with an automatic transmission.
