Default Bye bye engine !

Was following a friend along the freeway and he reved til 9500rpm on fourth and wanted to change to 5th.
You all can guess what happend, he miss shift to 3rd for about 1 sec.
Next thing we know, we smell something and smoke behind the car as we cruise to a halt.
Car could not start anymore and the next day when we pulled the head off we see this

Looks like he's gonna build a 2.0L next

Damn, why the hell did he go to 9500 than decide to shift? Does it not have a rev limiter?

9500 indicated probably, not actual.

and Mires, I think the more appropriate question would be:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Mires &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Damn, why the hell would he need to go to 9500 in fourth gear on a highway? </TD></TR></TABLE>

One of those crazy things you do on a freeway with no one at 3am. Stupid i know......

9500rpm indicated on the speedo and i think was around 200km/h, was actually testing his newly installed 4.785FD

You guys are missing the point. He shifted to third instead of 5th. When he let go of the clutch his motor was spinning about 12k rpm instead of dropping to 7k.

Sure, by replacing the engine.

And that's why they call it a "money shift"...
