Default b20 torque + reliability

Just wondering, have an all motor setup / motor is pretty much done except for bottom. I am not satisifed with my torque right now 134/tq. Will the torque difference be great with the b20? How would the reliability be on the over all motor (anyone hear of any problems with b20's in tegs)?

99 GSR

Thanks.

A friend of mine has a '99 B20/VTEC with a GSR head, Skunk2 manifold, ITR throttle body, ITR cams, JDM header, APEXi N1. In a 92 Civic HB. The car runs mid 13's on muscle with 15 inch street tires. Need I say more?

So finally thinking about the B20 huh CJ?

If you want more torque, its the best route. Plus you have your GSR block on reserve just in case anything should happen. Or you could sell it and help pay for the B20 motor.

My buddy is beginning a project like this as well - but for a crx...

I say check out the crvtec.com and b20.net for more info.

As long as you get oil squirters and vtec lines, it should be fine... Maybe something to tune with for air and fuel...

I'm no expert... If you're buying a short block, you might want to upgrade the crank, pistons, and rods before installing...

For drag racing a B20 in a Civic does real well. I had a good conversation about this topic the other day, I was supprised by how much you can get out of those things.

Actually '96-'98 B20's are not that desireable. They have less torque/less hp and do not respond to VTEC conversion as well as the '99-'01's do. Another plus is that a GSR head will bump up compression by .02 points as opposed to an SI/ITR head.

Stock internals are ok if you plan on running OEM cams, and no FI. Like I said in my post above. My friend has a bone-stock '99 B20 bottom end (stock pistosn, rods, crank) with a GSR head. And it screams! It runs mid 13's in a street HB w/ a '95 GSR ECU and hardly any tuning at all.
