Stock GS-R should not flow better than ITR. It may have been massaged tho.
Perhaps the GS-R head has a different roof profile, thus being better for boost (less compression / hot spots / detonation).

I know the cc is smaller than a R head.

Re: (b cruz)
The P72 has raised ports for a more direct shot into the cylinder. P72 heads have a quench area that goes all the way to the surface, while PR3 heads are recessed.
The P72 may flow better than a B16 head (maybe the R too?) but with those ports I would assume reversion is a bigger issue than with PR3 heads.

I saw this at my buddies shop yesterday. I was confused when i saw a block badge that said B18C5 but no red valve cover and i noticed the head was a Gsr head. I dont know WHY anyone would do that but hey some people are morons

thats an ignorant statement
I'm building an engine right now, with a C5 shortblock and GSR head
so I guess you would consider me to be a moron

Hey CBRF4i, you should judge a head by its valve cover, thats all it is. its only a valve cover, quite honestly, if someone gave me an offer i couldn't refuse than i'd sell my red valve cover and put a black one on.
-> taht would mean if they ever popped the hood and saw a black valve cover they'd think its a b16 if they din't look at the block. they'll think its a salvaged R but no R motor was installed, since gsr has the different IM on them.

Higher compression perhaps? There was actually a post a while back of a guy who purchased an ITR, who later found out the head was a GSR head. Needless to say, he wasnt exactly happy.

I think it's funny that most of the posts in here don't even know what they're talking about.
Anyone remember that N/A engine shootout? Take a look at what they heads they all chose to use. Then search...and found out why.
