did you look into optima yellow batteries? I'm sure they have one that has top and side posts...
The optima 12volt battery will not fit. Two optima 6volt batteries will fit with some sort of custom bracket like the one shown in the picture. These batteries are heavy so if weight is a issue then you don't want to go with optima. Spoon makes a light weight battery, I think.

Guys - Check out AIRCRAFT Batteries. We use De Haviland ( spelt wrong?) Batteries. Available here in Australia, they are alittle Lighter, only because they are smaller.
Just a thought. Later.

SVR has a dry cell that will fit the stock location(with minor mod to battery tray), it is bigger than stock and weighs 38lbs. It doesnt have side posts, but they have many different sizes that you could choose from.
The model number of the one that fits stock location is SVR50-12, although IMO this battery is overkill(weight & power) unless you have a competition sound system.
BTW, this is the battery from Westco that typermsm mentioned. 1.800.214.8040

Re: Which after market battery?? (t)
I found out yesterday that my battery was dead, I left the interior dome light on for a couple of days...so I jumped, didn't think there would be a problem...went to go out today and it's dead again...so it looks like I need a new battery...
right now, I'm looking to keep it in the stock location, but I'm considering eventually moving it to the rear, so it needs to fit in the stock location as of now.
I'm looking for some info on a replacement battery for it, preferably one that gives as much or close to OEM power and also one that's lighter...
Does anyone have any info on the Spoon battery or any other that may benefit me? I would appreciate any replies...thanks

Summit Racing has a blue one called something "Reactor".
Its sealed, and made of paste wrapped cells (not exactly lead-acid).
Make sure you get the screw-in posts.
~$200

IMO, don't waste your money with a battery other than OEM. I researched this a bit recently and ended up getting a new stock battery. It weighs 28.5 lbs and is only about 12-14lbs heavier than the aftermarket batteries which don't hold the same charge as the stock one does. Plus, the cost of the aftermarket batteries is over double. Stock is the way to go...it fits well and performs well. Why spend an extra $80-90 on a battery that may save you 12lbs and doesn't work as well?

If you trim the bottom of an Optima battery it will fit snugly into a DC/EG/EK. My car is RHD but this should work in LHD cars too.
