Default would it be possible

this be a stupid question but is it possible for the cams on a vtec engine to be set so that they are always open as if it were in vtec , this would waste alot of gas im sure but would there be any benefit to it , so instead of vtec kicking in at 5400 rpm it would kick in at 1100 or somethign liek that

possible...yes. Complete waste though, the smaller non-vtec cam lobes make more power down low and the larger vtec profiles are engaged when they start benefitting power.....thus, its already set to make the most power it can. When you start doing mods, then you can start thinking about changing it, but generally you make it higher, not lower.

The vtec crossover can be moved either higher or lower, depending on how your powerband looks on a dyno graph, which is adjusted accordingly by the tuner.

all you have to do is send straight 12v to the vtec solinoid and it will always be on.

Read this. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question229.htm

You will understand why it would be pointless to keep it in vtec. At low RPM's the engines optimal mechanical timing is different from at higher rpm's. vtec gives you the best of both worlds, it gives you good mechanical timing at low rpm and high rpm once it switches over.

agreed,

the future is continuous variable valve timing, not ran off cams, all computer controlled valve timing.
