Where does you Temp. guage needle rest at?
I was sitting my friend's 97gsr and his guage was resting at about 1/4-1/3. On my 94gsr(replaced OEM thermostat but aftermarket radiator and cap), it' rest about 1/3, sometimes a dot or two higher when I idle...is that NORMAL???? My friend's gsr seems to be running cooler...

Re: (GrayT)
He's probably running a colder thermostat. Could be other things, radiator, water pump your block has developed a calcium build up, etc etc. I doubt anything is wrong though at this point. It's not like it sits above half way.

Mine sits a tiny bit above half way,
I've tried- flushing system, therm., new radiator,
I cant figure out why the hell it's running so hot.
any suggestions,
Sorry dude not trying to thread-jack....

Re: (MAV3RiCK478)
on all our hondas, it rests between 1/4 and half.(unless a coolant hose busts or the radiator and i'm trying to get the car to the shop...just made it)
i like how on mercedes, it actually moves according to the engine temp. gets warmer when in traffic and drops on the highway. plus, the oil pressure gauge actually does something too.
wow, i haven't seen macon around in a long time. howdy!!

From what I have been told, that's where it should be. If not, you may have a thermostat problem (possibly stuck open).

That must be an oil temp guage you're referring to. My friend's Audi A4 has one.
A properly operating cooling system should NOT fluctuate very much in coolant temperature. Earlier this year, when I radiator started leaking (and before that too), I noticed my coolant temp guage would only barely get above C while driving. When the radiator sprung a leak, it would move towards the middle while idling, but then drop back down when driving again.
I replaced the thermostat w/ a new OEM Honda one, along with the radiator, and now my temp. guage sits just under 1/2 ALL the time. It never moves whether it's idling, moving, whatever. It also gets up there alot quicker than it did before (old thermostat was obviously stuck open).
But yeah after warming up, my coolant temp guage stays rock solid all the time.
