Re: Where can I buy a B17A1?
Few and far between... They’re out there, but it’s almost easier to find an old GSR intact than just the engine (and those are also extremely rare as there were only around 6000 made total between the US and Canada in 92-93). It’s far more economical to go after a B16 for most... However, if you’re asking in terms of wanting to sell it, presuming it’s in good shape, you can probably fetch a decent price for it, since collectors that have a DB2 or are trying to restore one, want the original engine for it, and some will pay well to get their hands on one.

I have one in good shape, I'm wanting to build it but I dont know what pistons I can use with my pr3-4 head, I've been researching but still dont feel confident on purchasing and pistons do to the stroke of the b17a1 I dont want dome clearance to be of an issue.. any ideas or should I just sell the b17a1 and find a b16 or b18 to build?

I’ve done two N/A builds on my B17A. First time was with CTR pistons (>12:1 comp; [81.25mm] 0.010” over), super high dome, the top of the piston skirt barely poked out of the top of the block without the head gasket on (but cleared with no contact), and the flame travel was horrible (head was caked with carbon). I know this because of taking everything apart a year later due to an oil pump failure... Second time (which is still my current build) was with Wiseco forged pistons (11.5:1, [81.5mm] 0.020” over). Great flame travel, still high comp, and stronger piston. I’d highly recommend going with Wiseco or similar versus a stock Honda PR3 piston to get what you’re after.
