Re: WHATS A GOOD OIL FILTER (ONISHIMA)
i have an LSvtec too, i usually use a fram sure-grip filter just because its alot easier to get on and off when i change my oil, but OEM hamp Honda filters work very well, i plan on getting some more soon

Re: (teg racer 877)
there was a thread about oil filters a few years back.....basically some one bought a bunch of different oil filters and cut them in half to show its internals and effectiveness. Basically OEM was the best! Fram is garbage..you get what you pay for

Oem or Hamp oil filters for me
I remember reading something about using an S2000 oil filter will increase your oil pressure just a little. But i could be wrong.

If you go with an aftermarket filter, make sure that it has an anti-flowback valve. Your filter is mounted horizontally, so this is an issue. I suggest OEM.

Definitely! Must have the valve. A lot of engine wear occurs during start up, the critual few second before oil starts flowing to the different parts. That valve simply reduces the amount of time it take for the oil to get to the metal. We can debate all we want about how much time this reduces, but what's not up for debate is that ANY reduction during this critical time is worth it.
OH and Fram is crap. I can't remember where the pic was, but someone took a bandsaw to a fram and an OEM and compared, the OEM has denser filter elements than fram, i.e. more filter surface.

Re: WHATS A GOOD OIL FILTER (LS Turtle)
Pure One Puralator and Castrol GTX 5-30. 290K miles and the engine looks very clean on the inside, I should know, I looked inside, top and bottom. I don't burn or use any oil and drive it like I stole it often. Oh, guess I did get it for a steal, $1100.

I agree 100%. I work at a oil change place and have ripped apart almost every filter out there. Honda (hamp) oem filters are good, but out of all the oil filters out there for the price, i would have to go with napa gold filters, wix filters, purolator 1, or if Motorcraft made one for hondas, i would use those also. They have the most media and the sidewalls are pretty strong. Any of these are fine, oem is good, but not worth the price IMO. 7 bux for a oil filter? Ill pass.
And honestly from what i have seen, the filter i use the most is a Supertech oil filter. Hell, i change my oil every 2000-3000 miles with mobile 1 anyway, so the oil aint even dirty. I have not had a problem with supertech at all. 2 bux...cant go wrong from what i have seen.
Ive used K&N filter before and its done nothing for me...not that i was expecting it to. All it has is a 1" nut casing on top that makes tightening and loosening a breeze. May have a little more media (im not sure, never cut it open) but for me, i change the oil w/ synthetic so it aint worth a **** IMO.
