Default What is wrong?

Hi, I have a question and I would like to ask for you guys opinion and suggestion. I recently bought 2 12' alpine type r subs 300watts RMS each (1000watts max each). I connected to a 1000 watts max. Koiiler amp. I use 400watts max speaker wires. Ever since i hook the two up, my car battery have been dying. Before i bought the systems, my battery was fine. Now every 1-2 months, i have to recharge my battery. Could it be that my wires doesnt have enough power to handle my speakers, so its using my battery for assistance. I was just wondering if it because my system is too powerful for my amp and its using my car battery to help it or what?...i need advice...anything would help...thanks!

First of all, this should be in the audio forum. Secondly, what head unit are you using? You might not be cutting power to the amp and what not. Check your grounds, and make sure you are running 4 gauge with a fuse in line for your amp. Your system is not too powerful, just setup incorrectly I believe. Currently I am running 2 alpine type R 12's powered by a kicker 1200 watt amp, MB quart refrence series components off of a kicker 650x4 amp as well as an alpine CDA-9835 head unit. All that and no capacitor. so, no, you are not running too much power. Check your wiring and use a voltometer to determine if anything is on while the car is off.

is your amp on while the car is off and if it is, that whats draining your battery.

If that were so, he wouldn't be able to start his car after a few hours. Not a few weeks.
