Default What is the largest tire size you have run on you Integra

I am planning on buying some 215-45-17" tires on my integra because my friend can get me a great deal on some new ones and I have the power to compensate for the larger tire. I would like to see what your opinions are on this. Can you tell me the tire sizes you have run and your opinions of them? Thanks in advance!

That's too big. They'll actually slow you down, due to their 5 percent larger diameter (like putting taller gearing into your car). They'll probably rub on the fenders and wheel wells, too. And they'll throw off your speedometer and odometer by 5 percent.

If you're looking to maximize performance, concentrate on getting better, stickier tires for your car, not wider tires, because differences in performance between types of tires are far greater than differences due to widths. For example, the Falken Azenis RT-615 is available in the best 17" size for Integras, 205/40-17 ($97/tire at Vulcan), and the Azenis in that size will give better performance than any other street tire, even one with 215 treadwidth.

I just hate the way the tires look on my wheels . They perform decent. My wheels are 17x 7.5 and they look funny. Almost too skinny for the wheel. They are currently 205-40-17.

i have 215/45/17 falken st115s and i hate them. excellent tires but just too big. they make my car stand too tall and they rub at full lock and going over small dips. its annoying as hell only reason i got them because i got them brand new for cheap

Then you should get smaller diameter wheels.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by TigerIntegra &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i have 215/45/17 falken st115s and i hate them. excellent tires but just too big.</TD></TR></TABLE>

The ST-115 is really a mediocre tire and should not be confused with Falken's supersticky RT-615.

Those with 17" rims on Integras, who are looking for a terrific deal on summer tires, should look at the Bridgestone Potenza RE750 right now. This tire normally sells for $140 each, but right now the proper 205/40-17 size for Integras is on special at the Tire Rack for $63/tire, and there is a $50 rebate on a set of four tires through May 6, so the price is $50.50 per tire. This is an excellent tire for street driving, even better than the well-regarded Yokohama ES100, and right now the price is just awesome. The RE750 is nowhere near as sticky as the Azenis RT-615, so I wouldn't recommend it for a turbo application or those going to the track, but for those who want very good street performance at a bargain price, it's a steal!

Depending on what kind of tires you have now, you should notice much better acceleration, primarily due to stepping up to the stickier Azenis RT-615, much more so than due to the difference in diameter.

I think using that size is a VERY bad idea, for the reasons mentioned above. Go with the RT-615 in the 205/40-17 size.

The performance of the RT-615 will be like night and day compared with the ZE-512, which is an all-season tire and, aside from snow, doesn't grip as well as even inexpensive summer tires, let alone the supersticky RT-615.

You'll get all the traction you need with the RT-615 in the proper 205/40-17 size. You'll love 'em. Getting 215/45-17 will only add problems that you don't need.

Oh, I forgot to mention - the proper 205/40-17 size is also $14 per tire cheaper than the oversized 215/45-17 that rubs.

Do you know off hand what the tread wear is rated at? I checked Falken's website already but came up with nothing. How long will the RT's last compared to the 512's? Why do my tires look skinnier than the rim?

Do the tires look smaller because the thread curves in on the side wall?

I had tires on my bmw, 225/55-16 and the one set looked HUGE,
then the next set I got the threadwall curved inwards and they looks a bit smaller.

i have a tire size calculator on my comp which u put in the tire size your vehicle comes with and it ocmpares it to the tire size you want to put on and it says how much your speedo will be off by. in my case is 195/55/15 since i roll with an integra. apperently if i get a 215/50/15. my speedo wont be thrown off at all. weird tire size, but tire rack has got a few

Ya, they look like they don't fit properly. This is why I wanted to go wider. But I can't find any tires 215-40-17

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Lan &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Do you know off hand what the tread wear is rated at?</TD></TR></TABLE>

The treadwear rating on the Falken Azenis RT-615 is 200. They wear very rapidly; expect to get maybe 10-12K miles on them.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Lan &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I checked Falken's website already but came up with nothing.</TD></TR></TABLE>

On Falken's home page, did you try clicking on the lower right corner, where it says "Introducing the new Azenis RT-615, click here"? The specs are on the bottom of the web page after clicking there. You're right, though; they don't mention the treadwear rating.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Lan &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">How long will the RT's last compared to the 512's?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Nowhere near as long. But that's the trade-off. Did you put 400 horsepower on your car so that you could drive it on crappy tires that can't give you the grip you need to put those horsepower to the pavement? If so, keep using the crappy 512's.

If you want a tire that grips very well but lasts longer than the Azenis RT-615, then consider getting the Goodyear F1 GS-D3, $135/tire at the Tire Rack in the proper 205/40-17 size for your car.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Lan &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Why do my tires look skinnier than the rim?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Because you decided to get the big bling bling 17" rims. If you want to use tires that don't look so skinny, get smaller rims, 15" or 16". Don't compound your error by using the wrong size tires.

Obviously you haven't read what I posted above. If you want to maximize your performance, concentrate on getting better, stickier tires, not wider tires. The best street tires you can get for 15" wheels on an Integra are the Falken Azenis RT-615 in 205/50-15. Yes, they're 1.6 percent smaller in diameter than stock. They will work fine on Integras, no rubbing.

Incidentally, this is the same reason why 205/40-17 is the proper 17" size - because it matches the outer diameter of the stock tires. Look at the outer diameters of these sizes:

195/55-15 (stock) - 23.44 inches
205/50-15 - 23.07 inches
205/40-17 - 23.46 inches
215/45-17 - 24.62 inches

You can see that the 205/40-17 is the same diameter as stock but the 215/45-17 is WAY bigger, which (along with the wider tread) is why it rubs on the wheel wells and fenders.

LOL, anyone want to buy some 17"s?? I got them for a great price plus they are my favorite wheel. I'll call my buddy to see what kind of price I can get on the Falken 615's. If it is good enough it might be worth the shittier tread wear. I don't really DD my car anyway cause it's not what many call 'street legal.' LOL . So getting a tire with worse tread wear and better grip may be worth it. Thanks a lot nsxtasy; expletive you BOLO.

The Azenis have a more "square sidewall" which might fit the well up a little better. I know how you feel: I had 17x7.5 TE's on my DA, and the 205/40's were way to rubber-bandish. For 17x7.5, I've seen 225/45's mounted, and they look a lot better. I'm on 17x7 RSZ-R's now, and they look perfect (205/40/17 ES100s).
