Default VTEC x-over for GSR with CTR cams?

search showed up nothing as the archive is disabled.

I'm fitting CTR cams next week and wanted to know what to bump the vtec x-over point up to (i have a R-spec vtec controller) I'm not adding cam gears or upgrading the valve train, so it will basically be a job of just dropping them straight in. The only other mods to the engine are CAI, JDM 4-1 and mugen exhaust, everything else is stock. Has anyone a similar setup with CTR cams and if so what did you set the x-over point at? I wont be able to get to a dyno for another while so need some sort of idea on what way to road tune/set up

Do not go 5800 or higher because you still have the secondaries that have to engage!!!

I heard that the car will bog big time if i leave the x-over stock(4400rpm) as the engine is not getting enough air for the higher lift/duration of the CTR cams. i think i'll just set it at 4400rpm and keep doing runs till i get a smooth transition without any flat spots, but as bob-DC2 said, i'm expecting that to be around the 5000rpm mark

for those that have itr or ctr cams -- did you replace your valve springs as as well? do you think there would be any problems if you dont with stock redline? thanks.

I didnt replace my valve springs and I dont plan on it. You can if you want to get some more power out of the cams, but then you also have to upgrade your ECU to rev higher. You can get some ITR Intake valve springs and move you gsr intake springs to the exhaust side. or is it the otehr way around?

We just got Ben's (IN VTEC) car tuned yesterday, and his best engagement point was 4900. But, it all depends on each person's setup (he is running JDM ITR Pistons for example). You just need to experiment.
