Default Vtec question...

I bought a 98 GS-R yesterday, it has 147,xxx. It is the first gs-r I have actually driven, and I'm not sure if I'm "hitting vtec" as some people call it. The car pulls strong and everything, but I've heard you can hear/feel when the vtec kicks in. Should I be concerned?

Yeah it's completely stock, what mods let you hear it? I'm planning on gettting a cold air intake and a header/exhaust soon...

P.S. does anyone know the name of the blue paint color for 98 GS-Rs? I have a couple of dings I want to touch up.

Check on the inside of door jam on the driver side, there should be a sticker on there with the paint code.

The paint code is in the driver's door jamb. It may be super sonic blue pearl.

The dual stage intake manifold on the B18C1 keeps the VTEC engagement quiet. You should not feel the VTEC "hit" if the car is tuned properly.

'98 im not sure but it might be SSBP (Supersonic Blue Pearl) or Voltage Blue Metallic. SSBP is a more darkish blue that can look somewhat purple.

with a CAI and exhaust you can hear it but its still not going to be loud.

if you really wanna hear it, ditch your stock intake manifold and get an aftermarket one and chip your ecu so your vtec crossover will be at a higher rpm.
